Yea they murder that song! I think it's the video Cabin Fever that has another awesome performance of it.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:what a great night in Amsterdam, we were there. One of my favorite songs ever
the version several days before at Shepherds Bush was likely even better
absolutely love how Luther sounds like he's always a split second away from busting straight into
I'm gonna buy me a ticket now, as far as I can
Ain't never comin' back
Ride me a southbound or all the way to Georgia now
Till the train it run out of track
Can't you see, oh, can't you see
What that woman, lord, she been doin' to me
Can't you see, can't you see
What that woman, she been doin' to me, oh Lord

They also did it at Red Hat Amphitheatre in Raleigh a few years back, which will most likely turn out to be my last Black Crowes concert, ever. Kinda cool as my first Crowes show was just a few blocks away at Raleigh Civic Center during their High As the Moon tour in 1992.

Saw that the CRB covered "Raspberry Beret" for their encore in Petaluma, CA last night.

that was good, I had braced myself for the potential of a trainwreck but pleasantly surprised.bovine knievel wrote:211poundsofpork wrote:Saw that the CRB covered "Raspberry Beret" for their encore in Petaluma, CA last night.

Anyone know anything about the new bassist they just brought on, Jeff Hill? I am assuming he is permanent.

This is the closest thread I can use for this news: I noticed that Eddie Harsch sat in with Rich and his band last Thurs. In Northampton, MA. on Nonfiction. It was the first time he's been on stage with Rich since '06.

I believe his is permanent and I THINK he was the bassist for New Earth Mud.211poundsofpork wrote:Anyone know anything about the new bassist they just brought on, Jeff Hill? I am assuming he is permanent.
Not 100% sure though.
Looking forward to seeing CRB at Lockn this weekend.

I don't think the word "permanent" should ever be applied to the idea of being in a Chris Robinson-led band.

Re: Chris Robinson Brotherhood
DBT was on the bill right before the Crowes at BamaJam in Enterprise. Great show, the Whigs and G. Love opened up. Hardly anybody there for the Whigs, but Shonna and EzB watched from the audience. I thought about geeking out and introducing myself but chickened out in favor of them enjoying the show as fans.
DBT set was great,Luther Dickenson played 4-5 songs with them. It is on archive.org.
Crowes were pretty good, but Chris looked like he wished he were anywhere else than a pasture in Southeast Alabama.
That was a great concert series until the guy who started it went to prison for attempted bribery of legislators in an effort to start a bingo casino. Never was the same and finally folded a few years later.

Great, great set at Lockn and also sounded very good with Phil.
Neal Casal is a wonderful guitarist.

[NOT CRB-related content: Black Crowes family content]
Rich Robinson has put together a band consisting of members from his own as well as Marc Ford, Sven Pipien, Eddie Harsch and is calling it The Magpie Salute. They are performing their first show at the Gramercy Theater in New York Jan. 19, 2017. Tickets are already on sale.

CRB Betty's Blends Vol. 3- Self-Rising Southern Blends (2 LP/3 CD) comes out May 5th. Any fan of CRB who has not heard past Betty's Blends should definitely pick this one up and the others because they sound THAT good! (this new release was recorded at southern shows in the fall of 2015.)

It was just announced that keyboardist Adam MacDougall has left the CRB. Their new album "Servants of the Sun" comes out June 14. No word on a replacement. He has also departed C R's solo project As the Crow Flies.
Re: Chris Robinson Brotherhood
This may be bad intel but I heard via social media that the band broke up.
By the time you drop them I'll be gone

This would surprise no one. Chris Robinson might be the most self-centered, arrogant artist currently working.Rocky wrote:This may be bad intel but I heard via social media that the band broke up.

Re: Chris Robinson Brotherhood
Respectfully disagree on that one: 100% Neal. I dug Adam’s playing with the Crowes but his over-reliance on the synth in the CRB makes me cringe211poundsofpork wrote:Wouldn't be surprised. Sierra Nevada currently has their Magpie Salute lager on tap. I would need to ask my friend again for details, but they and Rich made it for a run of shows back east. Pretty damn solid beer, I like it way better than that CRB beer from Anchor

WWCD: I hear you about the synth. Somewhere around the Phosphourescent Harvest album and the shows around this period, Adam and the synth sound was a tad overbearing. While I really appreciate Casal's playing, still would find it hard to hear this band without Adam.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:Respectfully disagree on that one: 100% Neal. (Totally jealous of you and the Magpie Salute lager! Dammit! At least I can still get American Beauty around here!)

Re: Chris Robinson Brotherhood
Never been much of a fan of Anchor. I get their place historically in the craft scene, as Fritz was one of the first and is rightfully seen as a pioneer, but the beer itself is just OK. The flagship beer is something I never choose unless it's somewhere that Steam is the only drinkable beer (unfortunately there was a time where they had a ton of SF music venues on lockdown and Anchor was the only non-shitbeer offered). No idea if they still make it but they did have a summer wheat that was pretty enjoyable
