Got tickets to Atlanta, fingers are crossed that the band is still together by the time the show rolls around and that the show starts within 24 hours of the time listed on the ticket and lasts longer than a game of tic-tac-toe

I decided against buying any after Izzy announced he wasn't involved. Will see how the first few shows go and if reviews are good, might end up going to Cincy or Nashville.

Loved them back in the day. Saw them twice in 1990 and they were great, memorable, crazy shows. Still have the tee shirt even. No interest at all in the new tour.

I can probably name a 100 artists I'd rather see. In fact if it ain't Neil, Tom or Bruce, I can't think of any arena sized band I would go see.

I always said that if they got back together I would love to see GnR. I had the opportunity for a prime club level seat with waitress service at Soldier Field on July 1st from a friend who is a Bears season ticket holder. With no Izzy and no Adler/Sorum, I respectively declined. This comes across as such a cash grab for Axl, Duff, and Slash that it isn't even funny.
To put this in perspective, instead of $250/per ticket (Plus fees) for those club levels seats I will spending less money total on the following within 3 weeks of the GnR show.
Phish @ Wrigley Lower Level Reserved 6/24
Phish @ Wrigley General Admission Field 6/25
Alabama Shakes/Chris Stapleton @ Summerfest in Milwaukee
Ryan Adams @ Summerfest in Milwaukee

I don't care about the drummer, but without Izzy I'm not interested.

I too have always said I would make a true reunion no matter what, but this isn't a true reunion.

Glad I'm not the only one that feels that way about Izzy. Even as a young middle-school kid, I realized Izzy was the heart and soul of GnR. It's also obvious how much of an effect he had on the songwriting when you see the output post-Izzy. With that said, if they announced tomorrow he was joining the tour, I'd probably end up at a show just because I never got to see them the first time around when they were my favorite band.

He always seemed to be the most in touch with classic rock, and brought that evident Stones influence to the band.

I still don't understand what classic rock is. To me, it's a radio format, not a genre. I understand exactly what rock n' roll is though.

I think you knew what I meant, and what most people mean by the term.

Rock and roll between the mid 60's and very early 80's

Yep, not trying to be a smartass but even that definition is lacking as rock n' roll is still being made in 2016. No offense intended. It's a term that's been misappropriated that has no real meaning unless applied to the radio format. Again, not trying to be difficult. The misuse of "classic rock" is just a pet peeve of mine.

Rock and roll is definitely being made today. It's been made in any decade since the 50's. When I use the term "classic rock", I'm talking about a time frame, or music from other time frames that sound similar to that music. I think/assume most people who use the term are doing the same.

I just call it rock n' roll. I don't consider classic rock to be a genre any more than "oldies" is a genre. Again, not trying to be hard to deal with, I just feel the term has been misappropriated.

In this thread, classic rock was referred to a genre. I see it lots of other places as well. Was there some sort of sea change that occurred in rock n' roll in the late 80's / early 90's that created a dividing line where everything up to that point would be referred to as "Classic Rock" from then on? I realize this gets confusing (and has certainly been covered here before) but some Classic Rock formats include artists from that era such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, STP, Alice In Chains, etc. Artists, that at the time, fell under the Alternative banner. Apologies for the thread drift.

Saw where Chris Stapleton was opening the Nashville show. If it would've been Sturgill instead, might've been enough to make me spring for tickets.

I can't imagine being older than 15 and still listening to GnR, much less actually giving them any money.

saw them last night in Atlanta at the Georgia Dome which is famous for its awful sound quality. Despite that they killed it, started 15 minutes early, plated for close to 3 hours and went hard at it the whole time. Axl's voice was strong, Slash killed it on every solo and the band was tight.

I feel much the same way about Kiss but as I approached my 50th birthday a few years back, I started to revisit some of their older albums (beginning with Alive!). It was a nice walk down memory lane but I don't see any of those albums re-entering the rotation on a regular basis. Meanwhile, I have more than a few friends (my age and older) that have never stopped listening to them. I lost interest around '79 when they released Dynasty but it was seriously on the wane prior to that when the solo albums first came out. BTW, I'm not knocking anyone for still listening to Kiss or G n' R. Whatever floats your boat.
