Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

I didn't see your thread when I posted. Worth memorializing more than once, for sure

Growing-up, I never listened to Moterhead and never knew who Lemmy was. It wasn't until the late 90's living in England, watching "Never Mind Mind the Buzzcocks", that I became aware of Lemmy. He was on this show a few times and had a way of making everyone else on the set uncomfortable. Now I'm fully aware of his legacy, and he had a great chat on WTF with Marc Maron this past summer. Hawkwind and Moterhead? Quite a legacy. See the Buzzcocks clip...

back in the very early days of Spin magazine they decided to put out a swimsuit issue, with rock musicians talking about the beach, etc., and with pictures of some (most memorable to me was Suzanna Hoffs). Anyway, one of my favorite quotes ever was Lemmy upon being asked if he likes the beach, and he said that he hated the beach "because I don't like to get sand in me foreskin"

What a loss. Worked as best he could til the end, although the last year or two was rough on him.

Q: "Why do they call you Lemmy?"
Lemmy: "It's short for Ian."

If the bloody thing is ever going to work out properly, then we all have to intermarry and screw each other blind, and get to be "coffeeish". -- Lemmy
