Otis Gibbs
I was introduced to him via this forum and he quickly became one of my favorites. He stopped in NYC for the first time in 5 years to do some press for his new record. It's being released 8/19. I did the kickstarter and have had it for a few months already. With the plethora of good records that have come out this year,it's near the top for me
It's being streamed here

And here is my very nice recording from the other night

Check out his Thanks For Giving a Damn podcast. 90 episodes in and he's had such 3DD favorites as Brian Henneman (Bottle Rockets), Hayes Carll, John Moreland, Will Johnson, Todd Snider, and Ray Wylie Hubbard.
Re: Otis Gibbs
Can we turn this into an AOTW thread? Which one of your Otis experts (I am not one) wants to take over?

I love Otis! We definitely need an AOTW thread on him.
I'm in no way volunteering --really wish he toured more.

I think I've listened to all of his pod-casts. They are excellent. (Would love to hear him do one with Cooley or Patterson). I have his previous album. Also very good. I am going to get hold of more. I think he is from Indiana, but lives in East Nashville now with his wife. He loves cats. He also seem to tour quite a lot in the UK and Central Europe, but not so much Scandinavia unfortunately. Thats about all I know.

Took me a week to get around to listening to this. Thanks for sposting Jon.
I had never heard of this guy before but I like what he's doing. He has a great voice and the songs are pretty good too.

He plays in Birmingham normally once a year and one of my mates normally promotes the gig. He seems to play lots of small venues (three or four weeks worth) when he's in the UK so guess he's built up a network of people he can stay with over the years. Missed his local show this year as it was the day after a festival that I help out at and I was knackered. All the times I've seen him he's been great although he always seems to have run out of CD's by the time I see him.

Otis Gibbs: Man, can this singer tell a story ...
"I'll tell you a story, and maybe this will go where you want it to go." After spending a few minutes on the phone with singer/songwriter Otis Gibbs, I realize he's not the kind of guy who speaks in soundbites. Nope, Gibbs is a storyteller, and sometimes he prefers to indirectly respond to my questions with interesting, adjective-filled tales from his life.
