obvious big influence is obvious.....

Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

Yeah born to run definitely had that spector wall of sound thing going, and not accidentally. And he's always said that he tries to sing like orbison, but I don't think he can or ever has (can anyone?). And speaking of bruce and influences, darkness tour= elvis and nebraska = cash.

Yes! Thank you. It's not just me.

To start with all I heard was Stones on that song. But one day at work I was humming it and was all the sudden sing Dancing In The Dark in my head.

i've been listening to it endlessly on spotify, and smelled nothing.
i just bought the vinyl ( not sure what color), so maybe the flatulence comes through stronger from that, but i am in no way an olfactoryphile.

Okay, a really ignorant question. Are such farts literal, in the sense that at some point Stevie Nicks once contained them and then did not? Or is this a strictly whimsical expression?

http://www.columbusalive.com/content/stories/2014/02/27/cover-lydia-loveless-columbus-powerhouse-ready-for-national-spotlight.html
Abandoning any preconceived notion of what her music was supposed to sound like, Loveless started incorporating a wealth of musical influences, writing songs that flirted with everything from punk (the Richard Hell-inspired “Verlaine Shot Rimbaud”) to soul (she penned “Hurts So Bad” after binging on Stax Records offerings) to gleaming ’70s rock.

“I don’t even want to talk about this because I am afraid I’ll get sued by Fleetwood Mac, but as I was playing [“Somewhere Else”] I realized it’s the exact chord progression of fucking ‘Dreams,’” she said. “Everyone was like, ‘That has a very Fleetwood Mac vibe,’ and I was like, ‘Yes it does. Shhhh.’”

i didn't know the bass player was her husband.

Speaking of Lydia...
Pretenders/Chrissy Hynde's My City is Gone ---> Lydia's Everything's Gone. Lydia and Chrissy are both Ohio girls and the songs have very similar themes.

spinning off TC's post in another thread, i hear a lot of bands in nirvanas sound (most of which ive discovered after nirvana, for whatever thats worth), but never the replacements. i also dont recall ever seeing kurt mention them or westerberg, and he was always very vocal about his influences. not saying the influence wasnt there anyway, it just doesnt jump out at me at all

but sonic youth, pixies, melvins, dino, wipers, lennon, totally.
