Richie Hayward appears on three tracks from Frampton's I'm In You (1977) record, this is the most Little Feat-ish sounding of the three (the other cuts are "St. Thomas (Don't You Know How I Feel)" and "Tried To Love").

I remember where I was when I got the news. In the summer of '79, I was traveling with my oldest brother in his old time medicine show. We had radio, picked up the occasional newspaper, etc. but still, some news managed to pass us by. Such was the case with Lowell George. I probably found out around two weeks later when I picked up an issue of Rolling Stone in Colorado. It still doesn't seem real.


Lowell Thomas George (April 13, 1945 – June 29, 1979)
June 29th, 1979, American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer, Lowell George died of a heart attack. The Little Feat front man was found dead at the Key Bridge Marriott Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. George joined Zappa's Mothers of Invention as rhythm guitarist in 1968, played guitar on John Cale's 1973 album Paris 1919, Harry Nilsson's Son of Schmilsson album and Jackson Browne's The Pretender.

I always knew that Lowell George died in the Key Bridge Marriott in Arlington after a gig in DC at the Lisner Auditorium. Anybody know where the next tour stop was going to be? A friend recently told me it was Richmond but this could be an urban legend.

Actually I told my wife about the post. She clarified that she'd known me sometime before she found my Feat stash, but she was still quite impressed.

I caught Aoife O'Donovan at Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, NC last night. During her set she introduced a cover of "I Can't Find My Way Home" by Blind Faith that had been inspired by a bootleg she'd picked up of Lowell George, Bonnie Raitt, Freebo and John Hammond doing it that was recorded at WLIR in New York in 1972. That was one of many highlights of the evening. Below are links to the song as well as the entire original broadcast.

New animated video for "Fat Man in the Bathtub." It's cool to see Neon Park-like artwork come to life in a Monty Python-esque sort of way. I say "Neon Park-like" because I'm not sure that all (or any) of it is his. Little Feat are currently celebrating the 45th anniversary of the recordings that were included on Waiting for Columbus which took place in 1977. The album was released in 1978.
