Four years later most of us are still here. I miss SeanP, though. Always liked him.

Yeah, he's on mine, too. Huge baseball fan. I thought I saw him on the other side of the street in Asheville on the second night of The Alabama Shakes gig.

As in the days of "Desert Island Discs", I thought about this way longer than expected (or necessary), and ultimately decided to order them as they came into my life... these were the bands, that at the time, I could not stop listening to, and have never stopped listening to them...

had to leave out so many bands (Zeppelin, The Who, Neil, Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, Replacements) that I feel it necessary to apologize in advance:

Middle School/High School Years (1970's-ish)
Beatles
Genesis

College Years (1980's-ish)
XTC
U2
King Crimson/Adrien Belew
The Smiths

Grad School Years (1990's-ish)
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Pearl Jam

Nameless Years (2000's +)
Glen Hansard
Drive By Truckers
We got messed up minds for these messed up times...

Uhm:
Nina Simone
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Fugazi
The Mountain Goats
Sleater-Kinney
Bruce Springsteen
REM
Songs:Ohia/Magnolia Electric Co/Jason Molina
The Weakerthans
Shearwater

These probably aren't 'the best', though I could never see Nina Simone moving from the top of that list. But these are the bands who, when I listen to them, I never want to stop listening.

Take out the Stones, PJ, and Panic. Add Zep, Albert King, and the Beatles and RMD's list is like mine.

Funny. It was real hard to keep Zeppelin and the Beatles out of my top ten.

I'll give this a shot too.
INPO.....
DBT
JJ Cale
Levon Helm/ The Band (cut me a little slack on that one)
Jay Farrar
Chuck Berry
Bob Dylan
Stones
Bottle Rockets
John Prine
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

I may edit this 40 or 50 times. I already feel like a piece of shit because I didn't include Kristofferson, Guy Clark, Neil Young, Waylon, McMurtry, Todd Snider, or John Fogerty.

Also, 3 of my top 10 are St. Louis artists/bands and 9 of the 10 are from the midwest or south. I didn't do that on purpose.
