The soundtrack to the Gourds documentary All the Labor will be out on February 11. Not sure of the tracklist just yet.
Re: 2014 Album Releases
a repost from the 2013 thread...it'll come out sometime in the spring I believe:
This is going to kick a lot of ass.

Blue Blood is the new project of Hunter Morris, formerly of Gift Horse. Morris’ collaborator for Blue Blood is frontman for Kuroma, founding member of The Whigs, and current guitarist for MGMT Hank Sullivant, who had previously produced the Gift Horse LP “Mountain of Youth”. After hearing Morris’ demos, Sullivant assumed a more involved production/instrumentalist role and the studio version of Blue Blood became a collaboration between the two. Morris and Sullivant recruited J.J. Bower (Dead Confederate, Battle Tapes) to play the drums, and they recently completed what will be the debut Blue Blood LP.
Blue Blood in the studio is: Hunter Morris: Vox, Guitar, Organ, Piano Hank Sullivant: Bass, Guitar, Piano, Organ, Vox J.J. Bower: Drums Dave Spivey: Moog, Piano, Vox Walker Howle: Lead Guitar on “The Buyout”
All songs written by Hunter Morris Produced by Hank Sullivant Engineered by Joel Hatstat Mixed by Drew Vandenberg at Chase Park Transduction Studio Mastered by Joel Hatstat

You can stream the new album from the Supersuckers "Get The Hell" here: http://www.supersuckers.com
The Supersuckers are one of my Top five fav bands. Loving what I'm hearing on the new album. Their last album "Get It Together" was excellent, but this sounds more raw.

I don't have the last three on CD but chances are, I'll pass on this anyway as it's another nice collection done in by piss poor packaging.

Looking forward to this. Loved this lineup.
Statesboro Blues can be listened to here:

They are re-releasing the Great Woods dvd this year as well. They butchered the original dvd release w/interviews in the middle of songs. The VHS version was not like this. Hopefully this is fixed.

Not sure what's going on, maybe I'm gettin old, maybe it's the martinis, or maybe its Thursday night which means tomorrows Friday, but I'm digging this first listen. But, hell, what do I know.

I also liked it a great deal but wasn't really surprised as I've always been a pretty big Rosanne Cash fan.

Re: 2014 Album Releases
KG, I had King's Record Shop and really loved it back in the day, but I neglected listening to her much after that. I've heard interviews with her, she's great, and I love her in theory, but didn't pay much attention to her music. I wasn't expecting to be blown away by this album. She does have a nice supporting cast which helps, but I love these songs and I love her singing.

Re: 2014 Album Releases
This comes under the archival heading but it's a real shame that these titles are coming out on Wounded Bird when Rhino Handmade (as well as Rhino itself) always put so much time and effort into their packaging. For whatever it's worth, the only album I've ever purchased from Wounded Bird is the Earl Scruggs Revue Live! From Austin City Limits but that's because it's never been issued on CD before and Wounded Bird is the only one that's put it out there.

The Acrostics
He's a buddy and you'll probably run into ol J.R. if you are ever down in Waverly, AL. I hear DBT plays down here every so often. Anyway, he recorded the album using only his guitar, a microphone, and his iPod Touch (using Garageband). Oh, and shot these and other videos on said iPod. Pretty damn cool. He's been in a ton of bands like The Immortal Lee County Killers. He's getting a site together and I expect the release date sometime this spring. #southernindie

Re: 2014 Album Releases
2013 ended up being the year of the "let down"; quite a few albums I anticipated (Jim James, Dawes, The Polyphonic Spree) ended up being disappointing follow ups to great records.
I think 2014 will be the year of the "comeback". It's 2 for 2 so far (DBT and Reverend Horton Heat). A big comeback record from MMJ, Radiohead and Band of Horses would seal it

And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever
