Nope. Live music just isn't in the cards for me these days.

Saw John last night opening for Shovels and Rope. Excellent as usual. Accompanied by John Calvin Abney III on guitar (acoustic and electric) and harmonica. He was fantastic. He's all over High on Tulsa Heat (playing all sorts of stuff). Spoke to Abney after the show. New album in May (it's a rocker according to him). Will be touring with a FULL BAND!! Got a recording. First song (Sallasaw Blues) is on the new record.

Got to meet young Mr Abney in Little Rock at the Hang Out. His enthusiasm won over a room full of music nuts.
He also enjoyed a cookie. 8-)

We were Moreland fans before it was cool. Does that make us hipsters?

Big Bad Luv is the album of his career. Which is saying something because I felt that way about High On Tulsa Heat too.
Stunning record.
And thank god for it right now too. Much needed temporary solace from all the bullshit nonsense happening everywhere right now.
I put on that record and I feel okay.

Top 2 record of the year so far too.

Just got an email that he’ll be in Nashville on 11/19, that’s gonna be a can’t-miss show for me.
Turn it up to 10 and rip off the knob

John Moreland
Paradiso (Main Hall)
Amsterdam, Netherlands
August 22, 2017

** 16 BIT **

Source: 2 x DPA4061 > MPS6020 > Sony PCM-M10 @ 24 bit/48 kHz
Mastering: .WAV > Sound Forge Pro 11.0 (Build 299) [iZotope Mastering Suite (declick); Sony Wave Hammer plugin (lower loud crowd noise between
songs); minor edits, normalize, & fades] > CDWav tracking) > iZotope MBIT+ (dithered and downsampled to 16 bit/44.1 kHz) > Trader's Little Helper (level 5) > FLAC > TagScanner 6.0.18 (tagging))
Location: Seated, 3rd row right, approximately 4 meters from the right speaker stacks
Recorded by: A Dutchbird production
Mastered by: Dennis Orr

Second time this year to see John Moreland: same venue, both nights sold out, seated, one man with just his voice and an acoustic guitar on a big stage, goosebumps. He had the audience from the first seconds till the last.

Setlist:
01 Sallisaw Blue
02 Old Wounds
03 Oh Julia
04 Lies I Chose To Believe
05 Heart's Too Heavy
06 God's Medicine
07 Blacklist
08 You Don't Care For Me Enough To Cry
09 Avalon
10 It Don’t Suit Me (Like Before)
11 Latchkey Kid
12 Cherokee
13 I Need You To Tell Me Who I Am
14 Break My Heart Sweetly
15 American Flags In Black & White
16 Nobody Gives A Damn About Songs Anymore
17 3:59 AM
18 Encore Break
- Encore -
19 Gospel

John Moreland - vocals & acoustic guitar

Mastering Notes:
He had the somewhat annoying habit of starting the next song while the crowd was still applauding the previous one. I started the next song
on the first strum of his guitar, so most of the songs start during applause.
