I was born 1962, I'm actually the same age as the New York Mets. Looking at your list, I probably could have included,

Pink Floyd, Wish you Here and Dark Side
Bruce Springsteen, Greetings from Asbury Park and Darkness at the Edge of Town, and, yes, Born to Run, but I claimed to love Greetings at the time.

My hindsight list would be a lot different. I don't think I joined until Jan 2011 so I missed out on the begining of this post. Probably for the best, I wouldn't have been able to handle it back then.

I'm sure my list would be different now but I'm not sure it would be any better. But I am shocked that I left out Shoot Out the Lights.

While I'm glad that I at least remembered to include Bowie as an "honorable mention" he really does have to be on any list of the best 70s albums. In retrospect it does seem odd to have a list of 70's albums w/out Elton John on it but there's not a single album of his that I love w/out qualification nor am I sure what I'd take out in order to have him represented. In some moods, I might also try to sneak any early Chicago album on there.

As an observation w/out any real point behind it, I'm pretty sure there's over a 100 million in album sales represented by a mere 5 artists not included on my list:

Never said anyone particular person had all 6 steely dan albums on their list, just found i interesting that all 6 were represented collectively while other artists were omitted altogether. Again, collectively. If someone is too insecure in themselves to admit they loved Goodbye Yellow Brick Road enough to list it in their top 100, well, that's on them.

I love Dire Straits and Mark Knopler's guitar tone too.

Count me squarely in the " not my thing but I understand the appeal" camp (on most artists). Nothing irritates me as much as not being able (or willing) to separate taste from talent
