Phenomenal, phenomenal year in my personal music-loving history.

At the time:

Six more I came to appreciate after the moment:

Countless others, but I will let the fine folks of 3DD fill in the blanks.

Ok, I figure I'll give my stab at one of these 6-pack threads. 1993 was a very very good year for all sorts of music coming out. I had just graduated high school and was really starting to branch out, but at the same time was still in my 'metal phase' as it were. So these were what I was into that year:

Backup 6-pack & stuff I got interested in later:
Anthrax - The Sound of White Noise
Duran Duran - s/t (wedding album)
Sepultura - Chaos A.D.
Bjork - Debut
Phish - Rift
Cynic - Focus

*edit: and if there was room, I definitely would include the Carcass, Entombed, and Death albums that Bill in CT had in his 6-pack. Great year for death metal. R.I.P. Chuck Schuldiner

I hit Lollapalooza in '93 when it was still a travelling circus.

Primus, Alice in Chains, Dinosaur Jr., Fishbone, Arrested Development, Front 242, Babes in Toyland, Tool, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, Sebadoh, Cell, Unrest, Mercury Rev, Mosquito, Free Kitten, Royal Trux, Tsunami, Mutabaruka, The Coctails, Scrawl, Luscious Jackson, Genitorturers, Truly, Eggs, Girls Against Boys, Thurston Moore, A Lighter Shade of Brown, Glue, The Karl Hendricks Trio, Hurl, The Goats, The Runties, Ethyl Meatplow

The mosh pit was very interesting. 8-)

Glad to hear it! She could do no wrong in that era as far as I'm concerned.

Look. I want to squeeze it in with those titans.

I just... I just can't. I don't like it anymore than you do. If I had to knock any out, it would be Siamese Dream, but I can't undo the way that album blew my 8 year old mind.

"Voices Carry" by Til Tuesday was my first foray into the world of Aimee Mann. Whatever is a beast of an album. We played the fuck out of Whatever on the radio show I was part of in college - especially "I Should've Known," "Could've Been Anyone," & "Put Me on Top."

I've been cranking Blink 182 and Sum 41 all night. My parents just don't understand me, and I really like this cute, bookish girl from my 5th period American Lit. I'm really in touch with my emotions, and a very sensitive, intelligent (albeit misunderstood by society) young man. I can't figure out why she gives handjobs to the entire defensive backfield at lunch and doesn't seem to care about the over-wrought, well thought out CD mixes I've been leaving in her locker.

You aren't exactly helping matters.

You guys aren't making me feel old, you're making me feel absolutely ancient. By 1993, I had 2 kids, the older of whom was already in elementary school; I had left the job i thought I'd have forever and the one after that; and not only did i already have a rather large mortgage, i'm guessing i had already refinanced it once (not sure about the exact date on that one). <shakes gray, balding head, hobbles away on cane muttering to self and drooling>

I wish there was a year like '93 during my collegiate experience, musically speaking.

I guess I'll just have to settle for having come of age during the era of ubiquitous femi-scaping.

The funny part of it was my frat was filled with hip-hop loving club boys. We were known for having "club parties" on a small, private liberal arts college in the middle-of-nowhere, Upstate NY. Fuckin' brutal. A small group of us used to break away & host a "Fine Music Lovers" get-together in a locked bedroom.
