I suppose. Thankfully, we have such distinguished folks like yourself to fill in the blanks.
P.S. - Waylon is more "punk" than any of those little, whiny fucksticks from across the pond.

I can't seem to find it now but somewhere out there is a great article about Waylon playing CBGB's during the height of punk sometime in the mid to late 70's.

Re: 6-Pack (1977)
Great year for music. I didn't really get into the Clash or Ramones or Sex Pistols till a couple years later, so that's why they ain't in my 6-pack. This one didn't make the cut either, but everyone liked it at the time.
My favorite song from 1977 is Diamonds & Rust - Judas Priest (Joan Baez cover)

Instead of listing the usual suspects (Animals, My Aim is True, etc), here's six huge ones that may not have been mentioned yet:
Everyone needs a friend, everyone needs a fuck

I hate to be "that guy" but I'm pretty sure Some Girls didn't come out until '78.

Gotta love these changing of the guard years; tons of interesting stuff across sub-genres.
The Clash - s/t
Television - Marquee Moon
Kate & Anna McGarrigle - Dancer w/ Bruised Knees
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
Ramones - Rocket to Russia/Leave Home (nice 2fer)
Garland Jeffreys - Ghostwriter (extra hometown points)
Too good not to mention:
Elvis Costello - My Aim is True
Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bullocks, Here's the Sex Pistols
Muddy Waters - Hard Again
Pete Townshend & Ronnie Lane - Rough Mix
Talking Heads - '77
Steely Dan - Aja
Richard Hell & The Voidoids - Blank Generation
The Jam - In the City
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Street Survivors
tin, fwiw, my sources say Pink Flagwas '78.
