A very good year. Other than Exile, just a few that haven't been mentioned yet:

The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street
Aretha Franklin - Young, Gifted & Black
Jimi Hendrix - Into the West
Stevie Wonder - Talking Book
Paul Simon - s/t
Todd Rundgren - Something/Anything

And a couple of special extras:

The Kinks - The Kink Kronikles
Nitty Gritty Dirty Band - Will the Circle Be Unbroken
What used to be is gone and what ought to be ought not to be so hard

Isn't the purpose of a sweater to "take the edge off"?

Yes, but the purpose of an album cover is to sell the album :D

Another smash year for music, too many great albums to pick from (incl Roxy Music's debut & Tull's Thick As A Brick). Formed 3 great loves in music that year that have stayed with me till now: The Allman Bros., Jackson Browne & the Amazing Blue Oyster Cult.

My favorite song from 1972 is Oh Girl - Chi-Lites
A thousand clusterfucks will not kill my tiny light

It's pretty clear from these 70's 6-packs that I simply don't listen to classic rock that regularly. I'm having trouble putting together 6 albums that I actually listen to on a regular basis.
