TOP FIVE JESUS SONGS

Post by Gang Green »

I hope I’m not offending anyone with this post. If I am sorry, but the New York Jets training camp is fast approaching and, if you follow football, listen to Sportstalk radio or watch ESPN, you are going to be bombarded with Part Three of Tebowmania or “Jesus on the Jets.” At this point in my life, I’m fairly agnostic, but, if the Jets somehow win the Super Bowl this year, it will have to have been because of some divine intervention, and if that day comes, I will have found Jesus which means I’ll have to go to church every Sunday instead of watching the ESPN Sunday morning line-up. In other words, my life will change forever. In preparation for this spiritual adventure which is the 2012 New York Jets, I dug-up my top five songs about Jesus. As always, if you have some to add, please share, it can only help my state of mind.

You Can’t Beat Jesus Christ – Billy Joe Shaver:

She Left Me for Jesus – Hayes Carll:

Jesus Gonna Be Here – Tom Waits:

Depeche Mode – Personal Jesus: I hope you weren’t expecting Johnny Cash.

DBT – Too Much Sex Too Little Jesus:

That line "Jesus rides beside me, he never buys any smokes" is one of the greatest lines in all of Rock & Roll. It says nothin really and yet it says so, so much.

Yeah, I really like his sense of humor and his overall demeanor. Now, if his sense of style (clothing, hair, etc.) matched his humor, he might be the dude of all dudes, but I suppose that's just part of his "charm." Glad you liked the video. I think it's very cool as well.

Always been kind of partial to this one and it works perfectly as a seque into "Straight To Hell". Not sure if he does it the same way everywhere but once in Raleigh he sang, "the Jesus that I know goes to Drive-By Truckers shows..."
