Who's Everyone Seeing Live?

Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

Just caught the BlueBonnets.

Great all-girl Austin band, featuring Kathy Valentine (formerly of the Go-Gos)

Might see Chris Robinson Brotherhood tomorrow night. It's still up in the air.

Next Sunday I plan on heading to Nashville to check out Chris Shiflett.

Three weekends from now it's the Lucero family picnic. Lucero, Son Volt, Sons Of Mudboy, which consists of the Dickinsons brothers, Steve Selvidge and Ben Baker.

DBT opening for AC/DC's final show

Post by Swamp »

The cat is out of the bag. We're on our way to Sydney for this highly secretive event. Invetation only. We have been promised a great show with Brian Johnson "singing let there be rock" with DBT
and the rest as they say is uh er uh, well somebodies history somewhere?

Last night - Hayes Carll. Great show and banter.

Tonight - G Love and Special Sauce. Been 10 years since I've seen them, figured a little nostalgia trip could be fun.

I saw the Sleaford Mods on the weekend. Brilliant.

I ran into a friend from high school at the Tommy Stinson show last year. I hadn't seen him in like 30 years and it was wonderful to reconnect. He coincidentally does live in Nova Scotia and he emailed me in late 2016 to tell me that he was coming back to town to see the Sleaford Mods and that I should get a ticket. He told me that they are "beat driven" and that they are comprised of one guy with a laptop who plays the previously mixed beats and another guy who kind of raps/sings. I was like, "Are you telling me that there are like, zero guitars..?" Anyway, he is a super person and I am so happy to be back in touch with him, that I was like, "Honestly, I'd go see a Backstreet Boys cover band if you wanted. We haven't hung out in an eternity..."

They blew me away. I haven't seen anything that punk or fresh or honest in a very long time. Amazing. Highly, highly recommended. And now I feel somewhat current because I know that I can go to an electronic music show and love it (without being on party drugs), which is an added, unexpected, bonus.
His facial expression is terrifying. He's basically the equine Chucky.

Big fan, though never had a chance to see them. My good friend from south London turned me on to them. I have several webcasts of them live I burned to DVD and love to crank loudly.

I am envious. I would love to hang out with those guys. It's been a long time since anything has resonated like that. Fingers crossed that they're able to maintain their intensity and honesty and hilarity. Those guys are funny.

Clams wrote:Bottle Rockets and Chuck Prophet & the Mission Express last night at World Cafe Live in Philly. Henniman and crew came onstage to the theme from The Rockford Files and played a long, rapid fire set with a bunch of songs from South Broadway Athletic Club and a bunch of classics. The B Rox have literally mastered the art form that is "two guitars, bass and drums" - every song is taught and tight, every note is perfect, and nothing is wasted. Perfection. Every time I see them, I can't believe they never made it bigger than they are. I'd never seen Chuck Prophet before and I wasn't sure what to expect. I also had doubts about him following the Bottle Rockets. But as good as the B Rox set was, the right band closed the show. The Mission Express is a great band and Prophet is a herky-jerky nerdy storyteller strutting and dancing across the stage. He is a great front man, he stretches out his songs and the band knows how to jam. Prophet held my attention for the whole show even though I knew less than half the songs he played. To me, that says a lot. Two great bands, great show.

I saw Chris Shiflett and band play at the sold out High Watt in Nashville last night and it was great. Nashville producer and steel guitar ace Robby Turner sat in, which was an added treat. They opened with Tiger By The Tail and closed with Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way and played all originals in between. Basically revved up country tunes the whole time.
Chris mingled around in the crowd a little before the show and immediately went to his merch table after the show. I got absolutely no pretentious rock star vibe from the guy. (He's a Foo Fighter)

They can really play. It was good to see Shonna and Spooner having fun.
Pegi is not a great singer, but she really belts out those pissed off divorce songs.

just saw Ray Wylie Hubbard at lafayettes, right down the street from me. Really good crowd, especially considering it's a Thursday night with the Grizz playing a playoff game down the street a couple miles. Ray does his thing and does it well. The same one liners that killed last year killed again tonight. Great songs, great attitude, great playing....it's RWH.

Now for the big Lucero Block party on Saturday. It's supposed to pour all day.

Is Kelvin Holly still playing with them ? He's a damn guitar picker.
