Who's Everyone Seeing Live?

Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

Well this show sucked. The band are great but the new songs are awful live. By far the worst Waterboys gig I've seen - one of my friends who has seen them more times than me said the only show she'd seen that was worse was on the Rock in the Weary Land tour.

I hadn't seen Dylan before, but I had obviously heard about what to expect at a latter-day Dylan show. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of his singing, actually.

But the real highlight was that he ended the encore with a pretty faithful rendition (and the first he's ever done) of "Learning to Fly." Touching moment. Lucky sending one out to Charlie.

Nine Inch Nails were amazing in Las Vegas on Friday. 1 of the best shows I've ever seen (out of hundreds). The current line up may be the best one yet. Totally worth the trip.

I caught Lily Hiatt open for the Old 97's at a club called Durty Nellies in the Chicago suburbs last Saturday night. There are times that people hype artists on here that I just don't share the same passion with. I do like Lily Hiatt's studio album quite a bit, but our crew had purchased tickets to the show prior to her being announced as the supporting act.
Her live show was one of the best opening sets that I have seen by anyone. Period. The only other ones that come to mind as openers are Chris Stapleton and Alabama Shakes. When she first took the stage, the crowd seemed unfamiliar with her work and skeptical. By the end of her set the crowd was totally into it and she received a huge ovation.
The Old 97's did what they do and it was energetic, singable and entertaining. But the entire set I had wished that it was an evening with Lily Hiatt. She was a tough, if not impossible, act to follow.

Go see Lily Hiatt live, whether you like her album or don't. She has a great backing band. Seeing her live is a completely animal than listening to the record.

yeah they were great last night. tons of energy, which sounds funny when talking about those two. Vile's guitar work on "Depreston" was top shelf.

It's been quite a week and a half or so. Dinosaur Jr. last Saturday, Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile was last Tuesday. Saw LCD Soundsystem on Friday (Show of the year for me. Even better than the DBT shows I saw). Caught the Japandroids on Saturday. Tonight is Lucero and this crazy run ends on Wednesday with Slowdive.
