MMJ just postponed Wednesday's show to September. Luckily I can go at the rescheduled date.
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
McMurtry is someone I've loved for 20 years but it's never worked out for me to see live. To the point that I'm probably eventually just going to make a trip to Austin to see him a few times.

Rober Earl Keen farewell tour (ticket prices certainly match) tomorrow night at the Ryman. A few months ago I said I was done with downtown Nashville. I'm making an exception.

Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
Nice pictures, Tim. I really wish they would've done a more extensive tour. Due to the health issues I wasn't up for travelling to Vancouver to see them. I'm hoping I'm in better shape in September so I can go to Portland for Nine Inch Nails. It's not looking good though. I'll have to leave my last memory of the Oils was sitting in the front row last tour. I saw them in a club once & the show was incredibly loud. Then came the encore & it got even louder. Maybe the loudest show out of hundreds that I've seen. I felt something pop in my ear & couldn't hear out of one ear the next day. Bad time to forget the ear plugs!tinnitus photography wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 12:51 pmdidn't know you were there!

Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
Quite a fun show. REK played a long time, over 2.5 hours.
All the hits were played and he brought out Todd Snider for Play a Train Song and E Street Band member and longtime Nashvillian, Garry Tallent, to play bass on Corpus Christy Bay.
Assuming he's healed up from a recent accident I'll be seeing Ian Noe in a couple weeks at the Basement East in Nashville.

Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
i know that O'Brien's is a small place but was surprised that a tuesday night punk rock show w/ doors at 9 would be sold out but that's what we walked into at 10 when we made it over there.
bummer.
tried to talk/bribe our way in w/ no luck, but the door guy said to come back later if some people left.
so aubrey and i walked down to Lone Star for a beer. headed back to the venue around 11ish and good news! voila! we're in! even better, 2 for the price of 1.
bad news is that he said hte lineup shuffled and Poison Ruin already played.
bummer!
Final Gasp were fun though, three guitar punk/blackish metal attack w/ Danzig-type vocals. did a cover of "Girl Who Lives On Heaven Hill" too.
last band starts setting up, looks like a weird group of guys, not really a band. balding guitarist, bass player looked like Sam from GoT, singer was wiry with those pale-bluish tinted eyeglasses like Daltrey favors.
they start with a pre-recorded intro backing track and hell yeah - it's Poison Ruin!
def dug their set, strong songwriting and good performance. got to bed around 1:45 but it was worth it.
bummer.

Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
Heading to see James Taylor on Friday.
Fun Fact - the first concert I saw at the Erwin Center (U Texas Basketball Stadium) was James Taylor in 199something or other.
The Erwin Center has been replaced by the Moody Center as the NEW U Texas Basketball Stadium and the first concert I'll see there will be James Taylor!
Sweet Baby James, that's cool!

Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
The summer this far:
Greensky Bluegrass' "Camp Greensky" June 2-4: Amazing three nights of music with Greensky headlining all of 'em. They always bring it and this was no exception. Other highlights included Little Feat celebration 45 years of Waiting For Columbus, Luke Winslow King, Steppin' In It, and Steve Kimmock. Festival was 20 minutes from my apartment so I was able to roll back home and relax throughout the weekend.
James McMurtry June 10 in Bloomington Illinois and June 12 in Milwaukee: Been waiting a while for James. Love his latest record and was happy these sets were full of new material. Had the opportunity to chat with the boys after the Milwaukee show. Thanked James and gave him a big hug (I was hammered lol). Absolutely loved going back to Milwaukee for the first time in 7 years. I need to find more reasons to go there.
Dave Matthews Band June 21 in Detroit and June 24 & 25 in Indianapolis (Deer Creek): Shows were good but I go for the nostalgia and the party. We camp in Indianapolis so that's a whole thing and too much fun. Scored unbelievably cheap seats for the Deer Creek shows in the parking lot prior to the shows.
Smiling Acres Music Festival July 4th weekend: Fun little three day camping music festival featuring mostly local artists (biggest name was Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band). There was a huge community fire pit where a lot of the performers showed up around midnight each night and we all sang songs into the wee hours each night.
This Sunday: Drive-by Truckers in Kalamazoo
August 5: Fleet Foxes in Detroit
August 15: Hiss Golden Messenger & Aoife O'Donovan
Sept 1: La Luz in Grand Rapids
Sept 16-18: Harvest Festival Gathering (local and regional talent)
More will pop up along the way. Busy with a new job so haven't seen as many as usual.

Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
BTX is in complete meltdown mode, as it should be. These are also face value and they're utilizing dynamic pricing so you're "lucky" if you even have a shot at these prices. What a fucking joke. When dates were first announced I'm thinking about St. Paul, Milwaukee, Detroit, and Penn State. Now, it's only down to Detroit and that's only if I can score favorable prices the week of the show. I'm not sure I even want to go, though. Totally disgusted with Bruce/Landau right now.chuckrh wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 10:04 amTicket prices for Springsteen in Philly leaked. $60-$400 before service charges. Ouch!

Hey Clams. I won't quote your post because of all the photo's but just wanted to comment that I saw Allison Russell over the winter as well and damn was that a good show. Breathtaking TBH.
Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
Couldn't agree more! Of all the live music I've ever seen, which is a lot, I don't think I've ever seen anything or anyone as moving or cathartic as Allison Russell.Zip Up to Michigan wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 8:48 pmHey Clams. I'll probably go if I can get tickets in the bottom 2 price points but maybe not. Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
I was able to get tickets for Springsteen in Greensboro in March at fairly decent prices. Obviously not as big of a market as Philly, NYC, etc., but I’m sure tickets on the secondary market will still be insane.
Also greatly looking forward to DBT tonight and next weekend!

Whoa!
I hate to be that guy but how can I get an Lb rod koozie?
I can’t believe this is REK farewell. I was wearing a REK tee shirt today as I took my kids to the pediatrician and felt a little strange because it had a picture or an electric chair on the front (along with the road goes on forever lyrics). I saw REK many, many times in college. I had to take a fine arts credit and took theatre arts. I ended up acting out a play written by a fellow student based on “the road goes on forever”!
So I initially got on this thread just to tell y’all that I was missing Floydfest! The lineup is good this year but not great, but for me Floyd is much like Homecoming…attending is as much about the people I see as the music!
Peace, love, and chicken grease, y’all!!!!
