I saw Lilly Hiatt with the Harmaleights at the Pour House in Raleigh, NC this past weekend. It was my first show since January 2020 when Lydia Loveless, Reese McHenry and others played as part of a benefit for the Australian wildfires at Cat's Cradle Back Room in Carrboro. I moved away from Raleigh and back to the coast in the summer of 2020 and haven't been back since so it was also good to see friends I hadn't seen since moving away. Next on the agenda is DBT's with Lydia at Cat's Cradle in May.

I just saw them in October & they were phenomenal. After much deliberation, I'm probably going to take a pass on going again this summer. Mostly for financial reasons but health, too. The venue they're playing is kind of a pain in the ass getting to during rush hour & they don't have too good an ADA seating area. & they have strict curfew rules. I may change my mind closer to the show depending on how things shake out.

Saw Robert Earl Keen play his last Road To Christmas show ever last night at Germantown Performing Arts Center in suburban Memphis. It had been rescheduled due to covid shit.
It was a blast.

Neal Francis. a bit of a retread of 70s soul/r&b/funk but if you like The Meters, Leon Russell or Allen Toussaint you'll dig it.

It's been three loooong years, but SXSW is back, baby. I'm really excited for next week. I've got a pretty sweet run lined up:

Thursday - Willie Nelson's Ranch in Luck, TX - The 2022 Luck Reunion:

49 Winchester
Abby Hamilton
Abraham Alexander
Adia Victoria
Allison Russell
Bendigo Fletcher
Black Lips
BMI Songwriters Circle feat. Jackie Venson, Suzanne Santo & Aaron Raitiere
Charley Crockett
Chuck Prophet & The Mission Express
Danielle Ponder
David Beck’s Tejano Weekend
Delta Spirit
Ida Mae
Japanese Breakfast
Jim Francis
Jim Keller
Jonathan Terrell
Leslie Mendelson
Lily Meola
Lost Gonzo Band with Michael Martin Murphey
Lucero
Neal Francis
Night Moves
Particle Kid
Ryan Quiet
Seratones
S.G. Goodman
Steve Gunn (full band)
Sunflower Bean
SUSTO
Tami Neilson
Trè Burt (solo)
Weyes Blood (solo)
Willie Nelson and Family

Friday: Back to Luck! Isbell and the 400 Unit at Luck, TX, w/ Danielle Ponder

My wife and I have had, gosh I think FOUR separate Isbell shows cancelled over the last 2 years, so excited to finally get this in!

Saturday: Mojo's Mayhem - All day the the Continental Club

Consistently one of my favorite days/shows of the year. It's amazing to start off at 9am with a cold beer in your hands listening to some righteous oldies. Then, it just keeps building until Mojo Nixon burns it all down.

9:00am: Polish Pete & the Polka? I Hardly Know Her Band
10:00am: Allen Oldies Band
11:00am: Jon Dee Graham
12:00pm: Folk Uke
1:00pm: John Doe
2:00pm: Rosie Flores
3:00pm: Jesse Dayton
4:00pm: James McMurtry
5:00pm: Jad Fair & Lumberob
5:15pm: Mojo Nixon & the Toad Liquors
Love each other, Motherfuckers!

I thought about coming and almost contacted you! My brother-in-law (whom I think you’ve met) moved and now lives spitting distance from GPAC.

I saw REK often in college and was kind of sad to read that he was hanging up his hat/mic/spurs!

Nice! How's Liz Phair's latest album? I've heard some good but mixed things about it but haven't gotten around to listening to it.
