sweet, that looks good. i wished i'd seen more of Anna Van Hauswolff's set at Roadburn but the room was really crowded when i left the photo pit so i went somewhere else.

i'm gonna be at the London Neurosis show on the 20th... should be a good one!

Last night in Orange County I saw Chris Shiflett with Jade Jackson opening. I like Chris' podcast but didn't dig his solo albums too much. A little over produced to my ears. But he is much better and more rocking live. Jade Jackson was amazing playing with her guitarist, Julian Ness (son of Mike Ness) She has a great voice and Julian is pretty slick on the Telecaster. Overall a fun night out with some good tunes.

I feel the same way about his albums. There are some nuggets there but don’t like the production. Good to know that his live show is better.

Not me, but a story about my stepson at a show a couple of nights ago:

I didn't wake up for the text notification that came in at about midnight, but the next morning I saw a text from my stepson saying he was at THE NICK watching a band and that one of the guys on stage was in DBT. I figured if he was right, it had to be Matt. I looked up who had been playing The Nick the night before and saw it was Jimbo Mathus.

Stepson said he talked to Matt after the show and that he was really nice (because as we all know, Matt is really nice).

I've not heard Mathus post-Squirrel Nut Zipppers, but stepson said I'd dig it on the fall run.

Bob Log III- tomorrow, Duffy's Tavern (Chico dive bar institution, owned by Jonathan Richman's in-laws)

Mother Hips- Thursday, Feather Falls Casino (awful venue but it's $15 and about a 20-minute drive away, plus they have a decent in-house brewery. We drove out there Friday to buy our tickets and we both said that it felt like being behind enemy lines    )

I knew that was coming

I keep trying to forget but you keep pulling me back in (12 years later) ;)

I feel confident, Christy won't be in the car this time with bottle of Patron. I've seen a few shows out there since they opened the brewery and have exorcised that demon

Nothing in the near future but debating a road trip. I'll ride the motorcycle if the weather is good for mid October.

2.5 hrs from Canada to Cleveland to see Sarah Shook at the Beachland Ballroom and Tavern on October 17. Supposed to be a good venue. Found an Air B n B across the street that won't break my wallet. The whole area around this bar is supposed to be a great for food, art, music etc.

If I do this show I'll look for other shows the next night or go to Columbus to see Sarah again.
I tried but I could not. Stand in her way.
She stepped over me and was gone.

The Bottle Rockets tomorrow night. Been a while since they were in Nashville for a non-festival gig.

I ran into the band at a truck stop in Kentucky yesterday. You could have knocked me over with a feather. I chatted with John Horton for a minute.

Late yesterday I made it home from Floydfest. Lukas Nelson was phenomenal. If some of y’all haven’t heard of Travers Brothership, I think that you’d like them!
