The "opening act" tonight is Paul Major (member of Endless Boogie) in conversation about his new book Feel the Music with special guest Stephen Malkmus.
is Malkmus playing w/ EB, or a solo set?

The first time i saw the Boogie, i got high w/ Paul.

As far as I know, Malkmus will not perform. He will discuss Paul Major's book with Major & then Endless Boogie will play.
This is my first EB show...looking forward to it.

they played "Sometimes" as a request during the encore in Boston, scratching off something else.
I actually sent an email to their management company a few weeks ago requesting it. Talked about how much that song has meant to me & still does. Although I would've loved a few more songs from "Red Sails" & "Progress" this show was pretty damn close to perfect for me. I had a really good May, musically. It was a struggle due to some health issues but worth the effort. Started with U2, then Flaming Lips & ended with the Oils. Next up, Roger Waters in 3 weeks. Looking forward to that one, too. The new album is outstanding. I read on via Chicago that Patterson put up a tweet about loving the Oils in Portland.
PS: Patterson put up 3 tweets about the Portland show. He was blown away. I'm thinking DBT could do a mean cover of "Redneck Wonderland"! :D

I hope they take this momentum & put out some new stuff. They did 24 songs over 2 hours including a big chunk of Diesel & Dust. There was a short acoustic set in the middle that rocked harder than most bands with a stage full of Marshall stacks. The set ender "Sometimes" is still 1 of my favorite songs of all time. It just smoked. There's some good videos up on youtube if you're interested. If you get a chance to see them, do it!
Thanks for the review... sounds great. At the moment their European dates are very sparce (e.g., only one gig in the UK I think?). Here's hoping they'll come to Ireland eventually.

They added another London date, so there's hope. Go if you can! It was 1 of the best shows (out of hundreds) I've ever seen. Reports are Portland was just as good with a very different set. They are changing them every night having rehearsed a hundred songs. I would go see them again in a heartbeat. I thought about going to LA for a show they just added but have some stuff at that time that I can't get out of. Link below for their tour page.

Paula is an old buddy and one of the most talented musicians I've ever personally known. If anyone here from the Bay Area goes to it, I'd love to hear about it.

Saw Elizabeth Cook last night with Cary Hudson opening. Both acoustic sets. One of the most enjoyable nights out I've had in awhile. Cook is engaging, funny and extremely talented. First time I had seen her in a solo acoustic setting.

How was the show? I find Ghost fairly interesting. The singer reminds me a little of Layne Staley (vocally).

I see "bomb scare" didn't make the setlist like it did at the Hollywood Bowl. ;)

we got it right in the motherfuckin' head.

i still miss Blixa's shriek, which is about on par w/ the Nazgul's. Warren Ellis did a decent approximation of it using his violin, though.

as I posted in the Waters thread........... Show was great, a sonic and visual spectacle. I am still worn out from getting home late, and I'm thinking slowly today, so if you have specific questions, fire away

you look like you are planning to purchase Roger Waters tickets, haha. Show is on the spendy side. I splurged & got pretty good seats for it on the side. A week from Saturday.
