tears for fears tomorrow night, most likely in some sort of rain. looking forward to it. watched a clip of them this summer in england & the performance was spot on.
Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
Apparently this version of "Goddamn You, Jim" is one they've been doing for quite some time.
From four years ago (identical to what I saw the other night)

Most likely Josh Ritter and Angel Olsen next week. (I have to wiggle out of the obligatory "team dinners" for my business travel)

i find the "team" concept at work to be onerous. tried really hard to operate in that context & got stabbed in the back for my trouble. i find i have to lower my personal standards too much, so i put the headphones on & just do my job. really, really hate it.hanklow wrote:Most likely Josh Ritter and Angel Olsen next week. Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
Impossible to do the projects I manage without some sort of "team", but I get what you're saying...my problem is I lack the patience and if there is something I can do...I will do it without waiting on another team member. Alas, none of this is really the factor here...team dinner isn't work, it's going out to dinner with co-workers after work. The nice thing here is the only planned "dinner" is Tuesday night. Mon = Ritter, Wed= Olsen.chuckrh wrote:i find the "team" concept at work to be onerous. tried really hard to operate in that context & got stabbed in the back for my trouble. i find i have to lower my personal standards too much, so i put the headphones on & just do my job. really, really hate it.hanklow wrote:Most likely Josh Ritter and Angel Olsen next week. Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
just scored really awesome tickets on a presale for the red hot chili peppers on st patrick's day in seattle. i was going to go for the cheaper tickets but couldn't resist temptation. listened to some some shows from the festival circuit this year & the new guitar player is fitting in much better. i haven't seen them since the stadium arcadium (underrated record!) tour. flea is on a plain of his own with his playing. looking forward to it. trombone shorty opening is cool too.
Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
Just saw American Aquarium at the Hi Tone here in Memphis. The crowd was modest (75-100 people) but enthusiastic...
Show was good and we got a John Prine cover...Spanish Pipedream.
And Bill Corbin, the bass player, had apparently been drinking for 35 hours.

damn, where is Natural Child playing?LBRod wrote:Natural Child tomorrow,

We did all HSBF up to 2009, when DBT/Booker T played, and after that I decided it had gotten too much effort/hassle/expense so haven't gone back. For a free festival it ended up being a very expensive weekend! Awesome as fuck fest, glad I got to enjoy it as often as I did

Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
I caught Isbell at the Alabama Theatre in Birmingham last night. Very good show. He played most everything I wanted to hear.
During "Never Gonna Change," I heard a guy behind me say "I've never heard this one. What is this?" They left early, so I didn't get a chance to tell him about the wonders of "The Dirty South."
I was hoping to catch the Dexateens in Tuscaloosa in Friday, but it looks like life is going to get in the way of making that one.

Someone on a John Prine page on Facebook recently posted that some friends of theirs that went to see Prine and Isbell left after Isbell's set and didn't stick around for Prine. That's a shame. The last time I saw Prine (year or so ago), he was every bit as good as the many times I saw him in the 1980s-1990s.Kudzu Guillotine wrote:

Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
Agreed, though I never saw him in the 80's, I have seen him half a dozen or so times over the years (with the most recent being in Durham last year) and he's still got it.schlanky wrote:That's a shame. Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
I had some friends and family there; I found it particularly awesome that a defunct restaurant in my hometown got a shout out (during Alabama Pines he said something about he couldn't find anything to rhyme with Pop's Charburgers, which was a favorite greasy diner of the DBT's)schlanky wrote:I caught Isbell at the Alabama Theatre in Birmingham last night.
