The Fleshtones tomorrow night--first time seeing them, so pretty excited as I have been a fan for over 30 years.
Jason Isbell in a couple of weeks. Natural Child is the same night a couple of miles away so hoping I can do both. NC has a couple of openers so they should go on late. What are the chances Jason shows up and jams with them? He's got to know them right? Maybe they are neighbors in Nashville!

I heard they are great live act. Missed out on them a couple of times but I really want to see them. A girl I know is married (or engaged?) to one of the guys in the band (bass player?).Gator McKlusky wrote:The Fleshtones tomorrow night--first time seeing them, so pretty excited as I have been a fan for over 30 years.

Tonight Lee Bains & Calexico. Two gigs! Last night Sinead O Connor.
Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
Saw Mastodon at Red Rocks last night. If that's in your wheelhouse and you have the chance, definitely worth checking out.
Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
I'm not going to see The Replacements tomorrow night, but it's pretty cool that Two Car Garage is the opener
EDIT: and after I post this Iearn the show has been postponed due to illness

They'll have CDs, but I'm pretty sure won't have any vinyl with them for a couple more days. There is a full album stream of the record up at Paste, though - http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/av/2 ... hosts.htmlTequila Cowboy wrote:Patterson in Birmingham tomorrow night 5/7 with Great Peacock opening @ The Saturn a new venue there. Tonight: HOUNDMOUTH
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever
Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
The Houndmouth show was pure joy. It's amazing to see a band grow before your eyes and to see them humbled by their own success.
Just one year ago, they played this same venue, opening for DBT. I counted myself among a handful in the audience who knew their songs and was singing along, but the crowd liked them.
Now they returned, headlining a show that arguably had more people than that DBT show, and the crowd sang along to every word. Every now and then, they stopped singing and let the audience sing a chorus, and you could tell they were overwhelmed that so many people were singing their songs back to them. It was beautiful
Kudos to their sense of humor as well. This is graduation weekend at Ohio State, and the band came out to Pomp and Circumstance, dressed in full graduation robes and caps (which lasted about four songs until they were too hot to stand anymore). The outfits underneath were even sillier, with the bassist and guitar player sporting skintight leopard print leggings and 80's band tank tops.

If I am not mistaken Heartless Bastards was the name of the band that opened for DBT on the Euro tour last year. Don't expect too much.CalebCalebson wrote:Seeing Craig Finn this summer open for Heartless Bastards..

It's weird to see Craig Finn barely billed for the gig. My ticket stub just says Heartless Bastards printed on them. I will give their album a few spins on spotify to get prepped.

They've opened for DBT several times going back to 2009 or so. I really dig them and I'm with Zip, Arrow is fantastic.RolanK wrote:If I am not mistaken Heartless Bastards was the name of the band that opened for DBT on the Euro tour last year. I've seen them once. They played note for note from the studio recordings, as some bands do. Really good show.

Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
The Heartless Bastards are great. I saw them open for DBT back in '10 or '11 as well and thought they kicked ass. I have most of their discography and "Arrow" was one of my top albums for 2012. They have a new one coming out this year and there's a track on Spotify that ranks among their best work.

Re: Who's Everyone Seeing Live?
This past weekend I hit Shaky Knees in Atlanta and saw Manchester Orchestra, Pixies, Strokes, Neutral Milk Hotel, Wilco, Avett Brothers, Old 97's, Dr Dog & Ryan Adams. It was flat out amazing. This friday night I'm seeing My Morning Jacket at the Georgia Theater in Athens.
That's way more live music than I'm used to. Our shows have slowed way down since becoming parents four years ago.
