I was going to say, I've been driving around in my car listening to Rumours for the past few days. Mumford & Sons have a super grating style that somehow bores me as it gives me a headache. That they now have their own American Idol parodist probably does a lot to explain this.
Anyone ever seen Gordon Lightfoot in the last 10 years? Tix are $65 for July Richmond show. He's one I want to see before it's too late, but price is a bit steep and if he's lost more than a few steps, then...

Great oppty for worldwide bill to solidify his legend by pulling a phil collins - DBT plays about 40-40 miles from Logan Intl Airport on Sunday nite. See you there, Bill! And why not join him, Rolan?

I don't know if even WWB could pull that one off. I think he has a show in Stockholm Saturday night. It's a shame they took the Concorde out of service.
Trying to decide if I should pull the trigger on tickets to Gillian Welch next weekend. She's one of those artists whose work I find half incredible and half super-dull, so it would be a bit of a risk. But acts like her don't come around here very often. Anyone seen her lately?

I haven't seen her in a while but I have seen the Dave Rawlings Machine (of which she's a member). My advice would be to go for it. Of the times I've seen her in concert I wasn't at all disappointed.
Just got back from ROMP 2014 in Owensboro, KY from seeing Stuart Duncan and Noam Pikelny, Ricky Skaggs and KY thunder, Sam Bush, 23 String Band, POKEY LAFARGE, Sarah Jarosz, David Grisman Folk Jazz Trio, Old Crow, and Railroad Earth.
Old Crow was selling the new album Remedy and I bought it. Great classic Old Crow. Played quite a few tunes off it. Pokey Lafarge just kicked so much ass.
Trying to snap out of my post DBT week depression by reminding myself I've got Lee Bains 3 and Matthew Sweet over the next 3 wks. Always good to have something to look forward to.

Communist Daughter, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, and Jason Isbell at the Vetter Stone Ampatheater in Mankato, MN on July 30th. I really like what I've heard from St. Paul, but I think I need to brush up on my Communist Daughter before the show. It's going to be a rough next morning at the office, but a line up like that is not to be missed.
This weekend is the local Jazz, Soul Funk festival. Over the course of the weekend should be seeing
Fun Loving Criminals Omar Souleyman Cody Chestnutt Mavis Staples Courtney Pine Ginger Baker Earth Wind & Fire (not sure how many of the people you'd actually consider to be EWF are in this iteration)
Plus there'll be the odd surprise or two - last year the best band (after Nile Rogers) was Snarky Puppy who I'd never heard of.
