Saw Tres Chicas (Caitlin Cary, Tonya Lamm and Lynn Blakey) last night at City Plaza in downtown Raleigh for the first show in a new concert series called Oak City 7. It was a great night for an outdoor show with a nice breeze blowing. For having not performed in full band mode in over a year, the Chicas were also in very fine form.

along with UR and CG, just saw the coolest Levon tribute show at the Brooklyn Bowl
Craig Finn, Nicole Atkins, Marco Benevento, The Family Band, guy from Guster, Ian Felice, Phosphorescent and the Dearhorns..many more...it was really fun and Ian was hammered and let UR grab his mic..I don't normally get to see a NYC crowd sing along like that but they did tons of Band and solo album stuff..random ---Jeff Gordon was up on stage..
In my blood, there's gasoline..

Dumpstaphunk played our annual work party last night. Chaka Khan showed up and sat in with them for a song. No big deal. You know, the usual.

On the way back to Manhattan, our subway car spontaneously burst into “Up On Cripple Creek.” We sang the whole thing. My New York moment.

First European show in 20 years. What took him so long?? Bizarro...

Read a couple of reviews, top notch apparently.

Catching tonight's show. Johnathon Wilson as support could be interesting also.

Drove over to Durham last night to catch Wood ear's CD release show at the Pinhook. Also on the bill were Spider Bags and WoWolfoL. They also had a real kick ass poster for the concert.

Not quite a live performance.....but went to a book reading tonight.
Mike Scott from The Waterboys has just released his autobiography on June 6th and was doing an interview/reading passages etc. Great evening. Got him to sign said book. Most cool indeed.

I saw the Shins last week, I wasn't expecting much, though I do love all the albums.

They surprised me with their energy.

Openers The Antlers were good too.

Had not seen Radiohead since they have been an amphiteatre size band. Absolutely killed it last night. Everyone knows the greatness of their studio releases, however there are very few bands that are in their same league from a live performance standpoint. And the crowd was excellent as well.

I haven't seen the Amateurs perform since at least the late 90's when they played a Halloween show at Big Kahuna's in Emerald Isle. It's a whole new line up except for the lead singer. They still sound great even after all of these years. They used to be a real fixture on the local music scene as far back as the 80's so it's wonderful to see them back in action again.

I saw them in DC last week for the first time and was blown away. I've been a fan forever, but never seen them live. It won't be my last time, I hope.

Wow, that takes me back KG. There's no telling how many times I've seen them in Chapel Hill or Greenville.

Do you remember a couple of other reggae bands from this era, Awareness Art Ensemble and Ital? Ital was more than a traditional reggae band. They played more rocking stuff, but with reggae stylings.
