You will see it on a lot of year end lists for sure.
By far the fest Hiss record.
Vestapol is very good too as a companion LP for those who ordered the deluxe version.

Heart Like a Levee vinyl is on the truck for delivery today.

Looking forward to hearing this. Have withheld from listening to any tracks thus far.

The last ten minutes were an emotional roller coaster (slight exaggeration). Hadn't received a shipping confirmation yet so I tried to find my original order confirmation. Couldn't find that either, so I started to panic that I hadn't actually ordered the record. Began imagining a dark future without a copy of Vestapol. Emailed Merge and they responded immediately with the tracking information. The record is literally sitting at my front door.

When I got home, there was Heart Like a Levee in my mailbox. Kick ass! Like how the digipak actually has the disc tray this time (always find that essential- have torn far to many digipak cases trying to get the disc out). :)

Well after only one listen, I must say I am impressed. Need more listens though, and I already know I will like it even more. Random 1st thing that stands out to me: Phil Cook's piano- loved it on the last record too, especially on "Day O Day".

I haven't heard but a few cuts from the studio album but heard all of Heart Like A Levee performed live last year at Duke University. Looking forward to checking out the record (plus the bonus album) on Friday. The concert made a huge impression on me, not just the music but the presentation. The entire evening was emotional considering it was the day after the Paris shootings on November 13th.

One of my biggest regrets was not attending one of those Duke performances.
Heard nothing but amazing things.
Thankful that I get to see this band every night for a month starting next week tho.
Hope some of you guys can make it to a show, you're in for a real treat.

It's gonna be really tough for me to make any of the shows on this tour. Originally I thought I could swing both the Madison and MPLS shows, but now I've got people coming in from out of town that weekend and it's just not gonna happen. Pretty bummed about it tbh.

I'm looking forward to folks getting turned onto The Dead Tongues (Ryan Gustafson), who is not only a current member of Hiss Golden Messenger but is also a tremendous talent in his own right. He is opening a bunch of shows on the tour in support of Heart Like A Levee. I was first introduced to his music through the Drug Horse collective when I first moved to Raleigh in the late 00's which opened my ears to a wide variety of music from Max Indian to Megafaun, Mount Moriah, Josh Moore, etc. all of whom shared band members (thus, the "collective" part). Ryan released an excellent album earlier this year called Montana that is a must hear and one of my favorite albums of 2016.. I'm hoping he sells tons of copies on this tour. I have also been astounded by Tift Merritt's return to this area and how she has been embraced by M.C. Taylor, Brad and Phil Cook, etc. I can't wait to hear what her next record is going to sound like.

Nothing but AB and Heart Like a Levee all week. Gave HLaL a bunch of listens including the all important 'car test'. Album of the Year? Not an exaggeration to me. Sorry Sturgill. AB also a candidate as well.

Yes and yes. Listened to side A of Vestapol this morning and it is equally good. What a roll this guy's on right now.

Anyone watch this? I missed it and it doesn't appear to be archived. Unless I'm looking in the wrong place, which is a possibility as the vuhaus website is a nightmare.

Met up with Van and saw HGM's free at noon set at World Cafe Live today.  They played about 5 songs, all from the new record I think.  The band really sounded great (Phil Cook on keyboards).  They've got so much fucking soul. Wanted to buy the new CD but there was no merch table. Watching HGM, hanging with Van and drinking a couple of Southern Tiers makes for a damn fine lunch hour.

Haven't spun this one yet. Saw HGM (well, just him) at a festival a couple of years ago and he was interesting but not something I was blown away by. I see tons of support here, though, so will definitely listen
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

He was an acquired taste for me. I had a difficult time getting past his voice at first. One of the things that drew me in was the caliber of local musicians he works with which includes (but is by no means limited to) members of Megaufan, Mount Moriah, Mountain Man, Mandolin Orange, the Dead Tongues (Ryan Gustafson) and more recently, Tift Merritt.

Typical Pitchfork. Score of 8.2, review reads like a 10. Wouldn't want to have anything vaguely rootsy cluttering up their "Best New Music" (8.5+) section.

Sorry, I have no idea, since it's webcast video. I have no idea how one would then convert the video (.ts file) to audio (mp3). I know it can be done but its above my knowledge, capabilities, and software. I am fairly certain there is someone here who knows how to do it, but it ain't me, alas......
