You Got Me Rocking
The Worst

Baby Break It Down
Thru and Thru

Can we just say "the 1980s" and be done with it?

I disagree totally, but still, a great line

Again, not vintage, but, other than the video, not crap.

Re: all time crap releases
I disagree with Evil Urges (it's good but not near their other stuff) and Trans (Neil has made several worse albums, Trans has its moments).
Here's a few that come to mind:
Bob Dylan - Knocked Out Loaded
Bob Dylan - Down In The Groove
The Clash - Cut The Crap
Neil Young - Landing On Water
Aerosmith - Rock In A Hard Place
Aerosmith - Nine Lives
Radiohead - Pablo Honey
The Stooges - The Weirdness

Highly Suspicious is great. It's just a fun Prince wannabe tune, how can you not like it? I mean, peanut butter pudding surprise?

Totally disagree. This is a great album...especially live.
I'm with you, BigTom. Just saw them live a few weeks ago, and songs like Highly Suspicious, I'm Amazed, and (especially) Touch Me I'm Going to Scream Pt. 2 were incredible
I actually agree with that. I saw them on the EU tour a couple years ago and remember liking the new material a lot more live than on the album. But I still think the album itself - in keeping with the theme of the thread - is crap. The whole middle section, all the way from I'm Amazed to Smokin From Shootin, is pure filler. And a few songs (Remnants, Look At You, Thank You) are just...bad. "Look At You" is practically Christian rock. Jim must have been saving his best material for Monsters of Folk.
MMJ are probably my favorite band after DBT, but I never, ever find myself reaching for Evil Urges. If it ceased to exist, there isn't a single song on it that I would miss. The new song that popped up online a couple weeks ago has me hopeful for the next album, though.
(Just my opinion, obviously!)

duke--which song? we have a lot in common...DBT are my favorite band after MMJ...we're switched...
PS---the roots are remixing 'dear god' off Monsters of Folk for their new album....

There are actually two new songs, "Friends Again," and "Carried Away", which Carl sings. "Friends" is the one I was talking about. "Carried Away"....carries on the proud tradition of Evil Urges. You can stream them both here:

I had forgotten all about "Librarian". Hard to believe that the same guy who wrote "Golden" and "Bermuda Highway" wrote a song with "interwebs" in the lyrics...

Re: all time crap releases
Ah, it just goes to show...
I think Evil Urges is MMJ's best album (after hating it the first time I heard it; Z may also be my least favorite of theirs).
I think Voodoo Lounge is a decent album with a handful of great songs.
And I think Outlaw Pete in and of itself is enough to put Working On A Dream in most top tens of all time.
My contribution: Metallica's St. Anger. Ugh. Granted, it's been 23 years since they've done a great album, but this one is at a whole other level.
Oh, and Chris Cornell's, "Scream." I heard that once and it turned me into St. Anger. It wasn't even worth the $.99 I paid for it on Amazon.

I'm speechless. To each his/her own, but that could not be more opposite from what I feel.
Re: all time crap releases
It Still Moves is my favorite MMJ album - I didn't like Z when I first heard it, listened to Okononos, loved it and went back and dug Z a lil more, Evil Urges wasn't terrible but not my thing - I did dig 'Sec Walkin' though

Maybe this should be in the music blasphemy section... I hated this album when it came out, however, it grew on me so much that I put it in the top tier of REM albums. I know I'm in the minority on this one... where's Kudzu? If I recall back on 9B he was one of the only ones who was a fan of this one.
However, I'd throw this one in the crap category..

I like it too.
Sure, "Around the Sun" is a stinker, and "R.E.M. Live" is insultingly bad, but I really like Up.
