I like Trans better than Everybody's Rockin', though that's not saying much. And the version of Old Ways they released is pretty heinous (though at least one of the unreleased versions is pretty good)

I bet Johnny Cash is still ashamed of some of those quasi-patriotic pieces-of-crap he released in the early 80s, AKA the nadir of an otherwise stellar career

controversy?

some great songs, (Safe European Home, English Civil War, Tommy Gun) utterly ruined by the production: vocal too far down in the mix, muddy production and some shit songs. ( Stay Free, Last Gang in Town, All the Young Punks)
I've never taken a pissbreak during a DBT show but if I had it would have been during Dancing Ricky.

heartfelt? - sure

decent cover version? - absolutely

sounds great? - sure does

but compared to the original:

searing, compelling, a song that should be as well known as Marvin Gaye's What's Goin' On?

While I wouldn't call it great, I think Voodoo Lounge is far from crap.

I really dig A Bigger Bang
but they've also had a decent track here and there since then
She Was Hot
Mixed Emotions
Slipping Away
Thru & Thrue
Blinded By Rainbows
Don't Stop

and don't forget

Yup. Voodoo Lounge. Not vintage Glimmer Twins, but a good album. A few good trcks:
Love Is Strong
You Got Me Rocking
The Worst
Out of Tears
Baby Break It Down
Thru and Thru

i like those three songs, esp Stay Free! 'guns on the roof' is the weakest track for sure.

It grew on me a little after repeated listens, but it's hard for me to argue with your statement even as a huge fan of the band. I just hope to god their next album doesn't continue along the same path.

When the Eagle Flies is not only a terrible album by one of my favorite bands, Traffic, but it has the unique distinction in the company of this thread of being the only album to actually have the balls to include a song about being uninspired ("Sometimes I Feel So Uninspired"). I'm STILL pissed that i didnt take the hint and actually paid cash money for that album.

This thread poses an interesting challenge: Usually when i'm trying to jog my memory, i turn to albums i listen to, or to my itunes, where i mostly have songs i like and want to hear. This requires me to get out the duster and right now i'm too lazy, lol. Most of Eric Clapton's albums from the mid 70's thru the late 80's would qualify, w/ the exception of Money & Cigarettes. Maybe. Tracking almost the exact same years, and in honor of the Faces thread, Rod Stewart has to be mentioned here. I dont even know the names of most of the albums he released during that godawful period.
What used to be is gone and what ought to be ought not to be so hard
