Thanks for posting. MMJ is one of the best live shows around. I have seen them on two different occasions at Bonnaroo and was mind blown each time.
I'd like to say I'm sorry, I'd like to say I'm sorry, I'd like to say I'm sorry...BUT I AIN'T SORRY!

Seen em a bunch. First time was in Jan 2004 (I think) at the Cat's Cradle. Dr Dog opened. Both bands were riding in a van w/ trailer. Maybe 250 people total, probably 30 for Dr Dog. It was on the It Still Moves tour and it was awesome.
Most recent was Lockn' and that show was fucking sick.

Both recent Seattle shows are posted on archive.org . Very different set lists & the sound is fantastic. Worth a download for sure. I was at night 2. The ones I grabbed have these pictures:

MMJ has never captured me, but I saw the band’s set at the end of Colbert the other night. The light show was amazing!

I think they're the best live band on the planet. Can't wait for them to come through Ohio again. It's been too long

I saw them Tuesday in St. Louis. I'm embarrasses to say how many times I have seen them. No shows this leg in Louisville, Nashville, or Los Angeles. Since those 3 cities are their home bases I would feel safe in assuming a spring or summer tour will fill in the obvious gaps, and somewhere in Ohio has to be one of them. My guess is Columbus due to proximity to the other big C towns.

Couple of firsts last Friday evening.... MMJ played their 1st ever show in Connecticut and I saw the band for the first time. Couldn't dial up a more perfect evening weather-wise and the band was fantastic. Jim James on the Flying V is a treat.

surprised they never played Gathering of the Vibes.

i put in just a tad too late for the Boston show and the list was closed. they hadn't played Boston in a while! looked like a solid set list (w/ changes at each date), glad you dug it.

Jim James announced that it was the first time the band had ever played CT. He even seemed perplexed. Considering the proximity to NYC and Boston, I suppose it makes a little bit of sense.

I've clearly been aware of the band and enjoy a handful of their songs, but for whatever reason, haven't been pulled in. But I gotta admit, they were great live and I like all the different styles they incorporate into their music.

They’re one of the best live bands around. It’s a joy to see a band that is so locked in with one another.

I went to the show in Charlottesville and honestly I didn't think it was that great.
Have seen a handful of times and know what they are capable of, but this one missed the mark.
Ended up leaving early :?

The set lists have been inconsistent this tour. The new album is terrible so shows where they're playing a lot of new tunes are automatically going to be weaker by default.

Your C-ville setlist looks solid, albeit a bit short. What was the issue here?

Jim’s memory failed him when he said that. I saw the band open for Pearl Jam in Hartford in May 2006 (my first MMJ show) and in Bridgeport on the Americanarama tour. I had a ticket for New Haven but had to miss it because it conflicted with Pearl Jam’s rescheduled Nashville show.
I did see 4 MMJ shows this year and enjoyed them very much. Glad you liked your first MMJ show.

i like it too. I also like how the band mixes things up. Keeps things from getting boring for us & for the band.

Perhaps he was speaking as Yim Yames.

Thanks, Bill. Really was an enjoyable experience.

I saw MMJ open for Guided by Voices way back before anyone knew who MMJ were. They were impressive then & way better now. Carl Broemel is rapidly moving up my favorite guitar player list.

I dunno. It was a Monday night, so there is that.
Didn't really seem like they were "bringing it" in comparison to the other shows I've seen.
Plus I'm not the biggest fan of the majority of the post-Z material either. Some good songs here and there, but overall the records have been forgettable IMO. So that to say, a decent chunk of the setlist didn't really resonate with me.

I've been making my semi-yearly attempt to get into MMJ, but it never seems to stick. I have a bunch of live shows on deck to listen to.
Do you ever get tired of singin' songs
