I see your point Beebs, but I feel (and I'm guessing others do to) that I've heard enough of these types of bands to know that they're probably going to suck.

I guess I don't see what "these types" of bands are or how it has anything to do with what they sound like. There are a LOT of good bands with non-sensicle/pointless/ugly/stupid names. I think there is a phenomenon that after we like a band we no longer think their name is so stupid.

Not every name can sound as awesome as Soundgarden or Slayer. Or Throbbing Gristle. Now there's a name right there.

There's a guy on another board I frequent who is really into this kind of stuff and considers himself a pretty big music buff. I just cringe whenever he starts telling me I'd really like this new band he's into because I'm a Pearl Jam fan. It's just all so terrible. Truly some of the worst music being made today.

I'm a Cyclone fan. I don't really post on/read Hawkeye Report. If I'm reading a Hawk board, its probably HALO. Those guys are pretty funny.

The dude who always suggests the crap is actually from Cyclone Fanatic, but he posts in a message board mostly made up of buddies I blog with and is always trying to get everyone who posts there to check whatever awful new metal band he's listening to.

I still spend too much time on the ISU board. Only problem is that the increasing popularity of message boards has drawn the idiot brigade out of the woodwork and made some of them (particularly on the sports end) less enjoyable.

Seems like some Hawk fans have a real love/hate relationship with the Ferentz regime. I don't get it. The guy does more with less as well (if not better) than anyone else in the country a lot of years.
