it was an 80's punk rock movement. Straight Edge. We were 18 and all the best hardcore at the time was straight edge. It got a little silly and I turned 21. Movement over for me.

I have some friends who were "straight edge" - I went to a couple shows with them in Atl and it was a bunch of lame-ass racist skinhead punks - I'm not positive that's what Ian mackaye had in mind.
I was too much of a sex, drugs & RNR guy for that crowd.

I'll never understand straight edge. Rock and roll without sex and drugs, well, just isn't rock and roll anymore. There's absolutely no joy in straight edge.
As far as drummer's go, it's a god damn shame that no one has mentioned Dave Grohl in this thread.
