Re: Trifectas
I love that opening trifecta on Communique:
Once Upon A Time In The West
News
Where Do You Think you're Going?
and then Single Handed Sailor and Portobello Belle on side 2
One of my favorite 3 AM records.

It has my all time favorite Dire Straits song in Once Upon A Time In The West not to mention Angel of Mercy. i was going to rip you for Brothers in Arms, which I hadn't heard in twenty years, but I just put it on for the first after the Hawks game (Hawks win in case you hadn't heard )and it really is a fine album. I hadn't remembered it being this good. Money for Nothing still sucks, but it has Brothers In Arms and So Far Away to make up for it. So good call, Clams.
I absolutely love Brothers in Arms. Was one of the soundtracks to my college years. I think it was one of the first digitally recorded records and it always sounded great. Yeah, it was terribly overplayed on the radio and MTV but it has some great guitar playing and the full 9 minute version of Money for Nothing is fantastic, not to mention some of the lesser known tracks like Your Latest Trick and Ride Across the River.

Essence has some great tracks, but it's nowhere near record that Car Wheels is. "Significant" drop off.

Not for me. Where the drop off occurs in this run is World. I think Essence is a classic. World is simply good. Car Wheels is legendary. Still a very nice trifecta.

I thought about that, but wanted to stay in proper release order.
(By the by, while perusing at work, some photos become small red boxes with an X in the middle, which makes playing along difficult.)

Spooky is my favorite KK album. But, as you point out, there's that damn Full Moon in the way.

Well done; a trifecta of trifectas.
But how do you leave off Milestones, Someday My Prince Will Come, Quiet Nights, Seven Steps to Heaven?
But you're right about the 1958-60 albums, that's a run as good as anyone's ever done.
