This guy sounds a lot like Childers, but he's a really, really good songwriter. There's been a whole crop of young guys from Appalachia that people/Spotify keep tossing my way and most of them don't really stick but this is top notch.
Don't now why I only gave this a listen last year. Going to see him in a small club next month so I jumped back in. Superlative record for a 21 yo. Must be something in that Kentucky holler water (my Kentucky sources tell me he's been playing pizza parlors and luncheonettes for years)

The Molly Tuttle album is my current AOTY, but this dandy is nipping at its heels.
Asheville indie rocker with plenty of alt-country edge. Became one of my favorite albums of the year on first listen, which led me to his previous band…
Wednesday - Mowing the Leaves Instead of Piling ‘Em Up
This is actually a cover record they put out a few weeks ago, which I probably wouldn’t have listened to if I didn’t notice Women Without Whiskey on the tracklist. While it’s a fine enough cover, the real standout is Lenderman’s female bandmate’s rendition of Gary Stewart’s She’s Acting Single (I’m Drinkin’ Doubles).
