Cool. I really like Greendale, but to me Monsanto is bottom shelf Neil. Monsanto actually makes Fork in the Road seem slightly not as wretched, which is saying something, as think it is awful. Been pretty disappointed in most every release after Psychedelic Pill. It’s the songwriting on these records that isn’t working for me. Mike Campbell likes to take the piss out of Jimmy Iovine. I've heard him do it before and he does it again here.
Benmont said Trailer, which was recorded much later by Mudcrutch, was initially going to be on Southern Accents. I think that would have been perfect.
Campbell also said that multiple times over the years Tom would say he didn't like what the band had become and maybe they should move back to Florida. Knowing if he was being literal or otherwise is impossible but I thought that was pretty interesting.
