Yeah, this is excellent. Seen him twice with the new outfit, no worries
Always go to the show
Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
The Neptune is a cool venue. It's an old movie theater (we used to go to Rocky Horror PIcture Show there a lot of weekends) that's been refurbished. I saw a great Neil Finn solo show there.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I've finally got around to streaming again which is most likely going to be the norm from this point forward as all of my physical media (CD's, vinyl, cassettes, books, DVD's, magazines) is in storage due to my present living situation where space is limited. As mentioned previously, I may be looking at having to part with all of it in the not too distant future but will certainly do what I can to avoid that if at all possible. Due to this, purchases have remained at a minimum over the past few year. Now that I'm streaming again, I have a lot of catching up to do.
Margo is coming my way in about a month. All things being equal I hope to catch her then.
This is the long awaited full length followup to Will's debut album, County Seat from 2018. That's a lot to live up to (at least to my ears) but I'm loving this on first listen.
Jake is presently on tour with the Decemberists and will be touring some on his own after that overseas. If you like what you hear be sure to catch him if you can.
I was tipped off to Mylee thanks to the Aussie-based Post To Wire website (which also has a social media presence). As their Richmond Fontaine-inspired name might suggest, the focus is on Americana/alt.country though it's not limited to one region, it's global.

Worth price of admission for "On the Beach" & a really heavy version of "I've Been Waiting For You".chuckrh wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 5:10 amGreat stuff. I already had a bunch of that tour on boots but it's good to hear the soundboard versions. I'm more in it for the blu-ray which should be here next week. The hi res download sounds great & was included with the blu-ray purchase.

I streamed it a few times on his Archives site. It's solid. Between Way Down in the Rust Bucket, Earth, Tuscaloosa, Songs for Judy, Roxy: TTN Live, Live at the Cellar Door, A Treasure, Live at The Riverboat, Live at Massey Hall 1971, Live Rust, Weld, Year of the Horse, Dreamin' Man Live '92, Live at Canterbury House 1968, Live at the Fillmore East, Unplugged, Road Rock Vol. 1, Carnegie Hall 1970, Citizen Kane Jr. Blues, Odeon Budokan 1976 and Return to Greendale, my appetite for another live Neil record is not very strong.chuckrh wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 4:07 pmWorth price of admission for "On the Beach" & a really heavy version of "I've Been Waiting For You".

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
The latest album from Becky Warren. She has tackled some tough subjects in the past such as war and homelessness. On this one, it's a bout of crippling depression that kept her off the road and in her house during the release of her previous album, Undesirable. Due to the nature of the inspiration for the album, I was expecting something a bit more subdued from her. For the most part, it's not.
The latest from Lilly Hiatt, an album, which for some reason, she has decided not to release on CD but has released it on cassette and vinyl. Thanks to a kind soul at another message board I have a copy on CD on the way to me. However, since I've started streaming again, I couldn't resist as I've waited quite some time to listen to this album. As much as I love her previous album, Walking Proof, I may love this one even more.
I'm only one listen in but I have a feeling this will be one of my favorite albums from 2022. Some of the lyrics are delivered in such a rapid fire way it's going to take me some time to latch onto them.
The second solo release from Mount Moriah's Heather McEntire. As for as I understand, they took a break as guitarist Jenks Miller has started a family. If and when they will resume remains to be seen. In the interim, Heather digs deeper into her more country and folk influences.

Unless something knocks my socks off between now and the end of the year, it's a battle between this and the Big Thief record for album of the year.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

Did Lee Bains kill Zip's dog or something?

Nah, I just find it weird when people lose their minds over okay records. Bains is fine, but why not just listen to Two Car Garage instead?

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I don't know about "better" but Welcome 2 Club XIII is currently my favorite of 2022 with Big Thief right behind. Then again, I'm only one listen in to the new Lee Bains and haven't listened to that much new music this year. Now that I'm streaming again, that will soon change.Zip City wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 10:24 pmNeither are better than the DBT record. I *love* Two Cow but they don't have a new album yet.

I love Two Cow Garage, but as a comparison to Lee Bains? It’s apples and oranges. Who does political punk rock like Bains?

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I love the DBT record, and it's right there with those albums, but both the Big Thief and Lee Bains records are big, sprawling works that are enormous in their scope and I find that impressive. There's no bigger fan of Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You than Patterson Hood, by the way.Zip City wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 10:24 pmNeither are better than the DBT record. Patterson’s opinion on these records doesn’t move the needle for me. I respect his taste in music, but I’m not curating my playlists based on his recommendations
