What's Everyone Listening to?

Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

I wasn't really paying attention to or enamored with The Killers or this album when it came out on the early 00s. Being removed from the scene, the hype, the pretension, etc., I can confidently say this is a really strong album. Of course my recent foray/obsession with post-punk & 80s alternative/underground rock (whatever the fuck you wanna call it) has recalibrated how I hear music. Some might say The Killers are too derivative, but I'm perfectly fine with it.
That was big my junior year of college.

All These Things Ive Done is pretty close to being a perfect song. Somebody Told Me was one of those rare tunes that got cranked at every house party that was actually good.
My boss at the time (2004) was a big Killers fan. There was no escaping hearing "Mr. Brightside" or "All These Things I've Done" in the mid-2000s. I liked both songs, but never felt compelled to get the album or dig any deeper. During that time, I was deep into Neil Young, Jerry Jeff Walker, Guy Clark, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Steve Earle, The Jayhawks, Wilco, Son Volt & Magnolia Electric Co.
Strange that I find this post tonight. During a football game earlier they were playi g Mr. Bright side going into a commercial. I hadn't thought about that song or The Killers in a long time. I really liked that song when it was popular and liked that record and Sam's Town both a lot. This was during a time when I was mostly listening to jam bands but I really enjoyed both of those records. I sort of lost track of The Killers after that as I soon finally got around to listening to a band I had been hearing about for a while calledDriveby Truckers and that took me in a whole different direction. I think I'll revisit those two Killers records.

I realised at the weekend that this period was when I first became aware of Dylan. This is really good and the band are sensational
