Some great post-punk from Minneapolis that sounds straight outta 1981.

Initial turntable spin. DBT cuts thick, heavy slabs of vinyl. Sounds glorious.

Just a joke KGKudzu Guillotine wrote: ↑Thu Jun 16, 2022 3:44 pmI remember a while back I popped in to post a clip of Sierra Farrell. You welcomed me back with a warm greeting. However, since I've started posting more regularly again it appears you still have some sort of issue with me. What's up with that?

All it takes is one wicked heart, a pile of money, and a chain of folks just doing their jobs

Heartless Bastards - A Beautiful Life
I’ve been aware of Heartless Bastards for years but didn’t check them out for the first time until a few years ago when they came to Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, NC. After the show, my friend that had encouraged me to attend the show gave me a copy of their Arrow album, which I love. My next purchase was lead singer Erika Wennestrom’s debut solo album, Sweet Unknown from 2018 which resonated deeply with me largely because I was dealing with some of the same issues Erika addressed on the album. A Beautiful Life is her return to working with Heartless Bastards. I’m only one listen in but it immediately strikes me as a strong effort, one I can’t wait to return to. It’s also a reminder that I still have some catching up to as far as the rest of their catalog.

Alvvays - Antisocialites
On first listen I'm not loving this as much as Alvvays' debut. Understandable as they set the bar high with that one.
A blurb from Uncut piqued my interest in Margo late last year. Based on the 2 or 3 songs I heard beforehand I'm loving this as much if not more than I was expecting to.

Not sure where to post this, but apparently the upcoming Paranoid Style record has a duet between frontwoman/writer/rock critic Elizabeth Nelson and Patterson Hood. You can hear a sneak preview via the above tweet. You have to click the wfmu link, then navigate about 20 songs down the playlist to the song I'd Bet My Land and Titles.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
After listening to this I’d have to say I’d put James McMurtry in the same category as Guy Clark and John Prine when it comes to the level of consistency of their entire recorded output.
I’ve been a fan of this band for quite some time and had high hopes for this new double album. Unfortunately, every song is slow to mid-tempo. The songs themselves aren’t bad by any stretch but with the pace hardly changing from song to song it doesn’t make for very dynamic listening.
This one was recommended to me over 20 years ago so I’m glad to finally be able to listen to it all these years later.

Besides XIII this has been in heavy rotation lately
Nothing fancy - just occasionally brilliant and always catchy heartland rock with a little country to it.

Just a quick note to say that some of you are backsliding on the identifying the artist/group when it's not obvious from the cover pics part of the process. Please?

“A Lifetime to Find” gives me some Jay Farrar vibes
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever
