Digging it myself. I've got most of their albums, and this is definitely a change of pace. Lots more jangly, Exile-era Stones influence here. But not completely either.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:FUCK YEAH!!!Iowan wrote:

I pretty much love everything they've done, one of my very favorite bands of recent yearsIowan wrote:Digging it myself. I've got most of their albums, and this is definitely a change of pace. I haven't spent much time with it, but I like it. Definitely prefer it to most recent day Steve.Clams wrote:Great record. I'll join you.Iowan wrote:

highlight of 2017 for me. "glitter" especially. i can see the voice being a turnoff, but the hooks just grow and grow
Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Really enjoying this. As brilliant as "The Most Lamentable Tragedy" was in spots, you had to sift through a lot of fragments (in true rock opera fashion) that connected the dots to get to the meat of the album. This is much more direct. I think it has a stronger 3DD appeal as well, whatever that means.

Blasting this one again, (I'm) Like a Rolling Stone now playing. Absolutely love this song, especially when at the end he starts namechecking just about everyone ever in/played with the Stones, including Bernard Fowler & Lisa Fischer, but for the love of fuckin' god, how does he leave out Ronnie Wood??? If I didn't love this band so much it would be a fireable offenseIowan wrote:

This is pretty solid. Reminds of me Isbell's pre-Southeastern solo work.

Agree, it totally sounds like it is from Hazards of Love.Zip City wrote:The new Decemberists isn't great, but Rusalka, Rusalka/Wild Rushes is fucking epic
2nd listen has me stepping back just a bit from how much I dug it the first time, though I really love Sucker's Prayer, which itself sounds like it is from The King is Dead.
Man, can't wait to see them, late July is way too long to wait
