Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I'm all in but it's mostly based on their debut. I keep listening to Blue Rev and love it but it's not moving the needle for me in the same way as the first album. It happens. At least they're not repeating themselves and are continuing to grow and evolve. The closest they've come to me on their most recent tour is the Orange Peel in Asheville but I just couldn't make it. It would have required taking two days off of work. Not to mention driving for 12 hours (round trip) for roughly one hour of music. Hopefully, future tour dates will bring them closer to my part of the state.cortez the killer wrote: ↑Sun Oct 16, 2022 11:00 amI'm a casual Alvvays fan. I can't say that I'm disappointed in the new album. More like, I've found myself becoming much more enamored by the latest from the Beths, Expert in A Dying Field. I believe Blue Rev may be a grower. Too soon to tell at this point as I'm only a couple listens in. I do know, that for the most part, I'm not finding myself as taken with it as their first two albums. It definitely has its moments though.

Shoegazing today, are we?
Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I bought this last night on Bandcamp and damn is it good. A really good companion record to The Beautiful Madness. Great to have JJ's 40 Watt set too. Was thinking how much Smitty would have loved this record.

The show as excellent. Opening act, Slow Pulp, was impressive, too. College Street Music Hall is a cool venue. Sound was fantastic and the show was very well attended. Good generational mix of people, which is cool to see. Band ripped through twenty songs in just over an hour. Definitely deepened my appreciation of the band. I'm also smitten by the bassist. Not that I need another t-shirt, but I couldn't say no to this beauty:Kudzu Guillotine wrote: ↑Tue Nov 15, 2022 11:21 amI'm sure it'll be a blast. Decided to attend last minute on a whim, and very pleased I did.

Instant late-career classic! A meandering, lumbering NY&CH jam, up there with "Ramada Inn" and "Walk Like a Giant." Fucking goosebumps and watery eyes.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I can't remember the source as I was on the move but I read an article where Nils Lofgren says he had to choose between E Street & the Horse as far as live gigs go. He chose Bruce & speculated that Micah Nelson would take his place. I just saw Micah 2 nights ago & he was unreal good. He did a great 45 minute set as opener (Particle Kid) & came out for a song with the Flaming Lips & played an absolutely ripping solo. I like Nils plenty but I've become a huge Micah Nelson fan so if Neil does tour he won't be lacking for second guitar firepower.cortez the killer wrote: ↑Fri Nov 18, 2022 11:17 amInstant late-career classic!
