Foo Fighters Concrete & Gold
Major rebound from Sonic Highways. It's just a fun, dumb, big rock record. Lots of Beatles harmonies, Shakey guitars, and phaser pedals. Dave Grohl is best to leave serious artistic statements to others, and just do what he does best - have fun. I know most here have little interest in the Foo Fighters, but this will get plenty of spins from me.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
You're probably aware of it but this record turns 47 today, which makes me feel even more older than usual as it was one of the first records I ever purchased as a kid. I still need to fill out my early Sabbath collection. All I have from back then (aside from this album) is a beat to shit copy of Sabotage and a couple comps. I don't have a copy of the debut album but it's engrained in the brain thanks to repeated listens on 8-track from friends that owned it.Beebs wrote:
Now Playing
I'm only one listen in but I found this album, despite the sadness inherent with it, to be the perfect Sunday soundtrack. That opening track (the only original on the record) really tugged on the heart, though it wasn't the first time I heard it. I also loved Gregg's takes on "Black Muddy River" and "Willin'". I know he had some less than favorable things to say about the Dead but i also got the impression that there was a great deal of respect there. Covering Little Feat is also no easy task, especially with a signature song like "Willin'" but Gregg does more than an admirable job. The road weary aspect of it really shines through on this version. The last song, "Song For Adam", a Jackson Browne original, also includes a guest appearance from Jackson himself. Though I thought I was pretty well versed in all things Allmans, it wasn't until after Gregg passed that I became aware of their friendship. This closing track is also a tough listen on an emotional level. I'm not sure how this album will hold up in the long run but beyond these first few listens but I'm not really looking at it from that viewpoint. I'm just feeling grateful that Gregg was even able to record it.

This album is not good. In point of fact, it is terrible. If you are looking for trainwreck bad—latter-day Limp Bizkit bad, “Magnets, how do they work” bad—you will find it radiating throughout Prophets Of Rage’s debut record.
