I'm trying to figure out how I feel about Sparks. I'm leaning towards jumping all in. This has dime in the gutter written all over it. Queen meets Devo in their sound, except they pre-date both bands.
P.S. - I'm drunk.

New Kevin Gordon release- Tilt And Shine
KG is great and I'm not sure why he doesn't get more recognition in the Americana/ roots music community.

Wow, Sparks is so far back in the way back machine I literally can't remember what they sounded like, but I know I listened to them at the time. Will have to refresh my recollection.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Sunday we were having a few beers at a local and they were playing the reboot of Mystery Science Theater 3000 with the closed-captioning on. There was a hilarious Sparks reference and I literally spit out beer!!! Hadn’t thought of them in foreverbeantownbubba wrote:Wow, Sparks is so far back in the way back machine I literally can't remember what they sounded like, but I know I listened to them at the time. They were all over early MTV, even more when they did that song with Jane Wiedlin

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Sure was happy to turn this one up again:
The same guy who wanted my Ton-Ton Macoute reissue tried to buy this one. He was really into Capricorn and Shelter, which is understandable.
Sweet guy, dead now, was in a chair from a copter crash as he was training to fly in Vietnam. I liked him and felt bad about turning him down, but not too bad, 'cause he had a much better collection than I'll ever have. And I really liked this record. Still do, too.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Iowan I need your help. As (bad) luck would have it, both the Bottle Rockets and Turnpike Troubadours are playing Philly on Fri Oct 19. B Rox will be in a little club, Troubadours in a bigger club. I've seen the B Rox a few times and would obviously love to see them again, haven't seen the Troubadours yet. Neither of them come thru here very often and I'd like to see them both, but that's not going to be possible. Advice?
