That’s a good record. Saw her a few weeks ago and can recommend going to see her.Cole Younger wrote:Caroline Spence-Spades and Roses.

I would definitely like to go see her. I can't get Hotel Amarillo out of my head. It paints such a sad, lonely picture but it's so dang catchy.dogstar wrote:That’s a good record. Saw her a few weeks ago and can recommend going to see her.Cole Younger wrote:Caroline Spence-Spades and Roses.

npr stream. loved the first two singles but high horse was an unbelievably good left turn. cant wait to hear the rest

Thanks for the link. I do like Kacey but on first listen this record leans a little too much to the pop side for my taste.Shakespeare wrote:

I've also read that she'll be the opener for Harry Styles upcoming US tour. Methinks that's a pretty good career move for Kacey.

shes definitely extremely aware of both what her audience is and what she wants it to be. its impressive watching her maneuver over the yearsClams wrote:Thanks for the link. I do like Kacey but on first listen this record leans a little too much to the pop side for my taste.Shakespeare wrote:

only one listen and i liked it but i actually wish it went even further to the pop side, or at least had more tracks along the lines of high horse

Glad someone's paying attention around here! There is no doubt that these girls (and the drummer guy) are going places. The Regrettes are THE SHIT. Hard to believe they're all still teenagers.Shakespeare wrote:

The new Decemberists isn't great, but Rusalka, Rusalka/Wild Rushes is fucking epic
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

yup, took the rec from you, thanks. abut half the debut has been firmly stuck in my head for months now and these new songs are only getting betterClams wrote:Glad someone's paying attention around here! Is this any good? I have a feeling I'd like anyone who goes by the name "Porkchop." I tried to get my sons to adopt the nicknames "Catfish" and "Biscuit" but they refused. So lame.Clams wrote:

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Yes! Although I liked his last record (Let It Slide) better. The guy plays some heavy white man's blues and boogie - sounds kinda like old ZZ Top. Definitely worth checking out.allisonsdc wrote: Is this any good? I have a feeling I'd like anyone who goes by the name "Porkchop." I've noticed Mollusk pimping this for awhile, but didn't dig the description. Pretty solid. For some reason I was expecting something that sounded like late 90's pop punk, which this is definitely not.
Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Definitely a rock record, definitely got some punk, but also some retro sounds (60’s girl group harmonies, they even throw in some Salt N Pepa). Lydia Night’s only 17 years old but she’s got some pretty important things to say about what it’s like growing up in this fucked up, trumped up world of ours. If you have a teenager at home, specifically a female teenager, this is the shit they should be listening to. They’ve gotten some big time press, they’re signed with Warner Brothers, they tour everywhere and they’re playing all the big festivals this year. In other words, get on board or get left behind.Iowan wrote:

Here’s a pretty good example of what they're about:
