I love the first couple songs on the new Sarah Shook, but the rest of the album hasn't grabbed me that much - yet.

I was wondering when Robert Smith was going to emerge and then "the guitarist" started singing. Damn.dime in the gutter wrote:cortez the killer wrote:

Stripped down performance several decades later.

Wow, the Eels. What are they up to these days? I know they (he?) never really left the scene but I lost track quite a while ago. Still remember "novacaine for the soul" quite fondly though.

Is this like the duets album at all? I picked that one up and... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz- total snoozer. Other than that, I have at least 7 or 8 Prine releases and I love 'em all.Clams wrote:

same old, pretty much. not sure when the last great eels album was (on first listen this one has some standouts but probably isnt it) but i think hes remained worth following, but i can see it as a diminishing returns thing too. i still listen to electro shock blues, daisies of the galaxy, blinking lights a lot, and saw them in 2010 (i think) and it was great.beantownbubba wrote:Wow, the Eels. my mom dated a guy who went to high school around here with mark everett. had a copy of his self released first album, which goes for $300+ on discogs. probably the priciest record i'll ever spin

Why didn't I think of that? In the Stormy Daniels era, what else could anyone possibly play? Is there anything on there worth hearing other than the single? Whether dance music is listenable when not dancing is a question for another day.Shakespeare wrote:

i think so. i checked it out mostly as a novelty but im glad i did. party line is the other standout but at 5 songs and 35 minutes its an easy album to listen tobeantownbubba wrote:Why didn't I think of that? The last half of this is so good. Prime Prine. No age qualifier necessary.
