Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

cant really comment on the new mix in particular, but the album itself is somehow always a revelation for me even though ive known it for most of my life. always had a major soft spot for "dont pass me by"

i think id put abbey road and revovler above it if i felt like ranking the beatles, but really why would i

Also can they really improve the white album? IOW isn't it un-improveable?

Depends on your definition of "improve." Apparently the original mix shortchanged the sonics in deference to late-'60s stereos and car radios and teenagers' transistors and such, while the new mix is closer to the original masters: more presence, more spacious, more lifelike, and those other audiophile terms.
I haven't heard it, but if you ask me, no, the only improvement they're making is giving retailers a chance to make an extra hundred bucks this holiday season.

probably accurate, but i picked up the new three disc version for the esher demos and to replace my original cd release, so it was worth $20. the deluxe, massive version was an easy pass though

havent gotten around to the demos yet but rediscovering the album has been enough payoff already

Is there a DTS 5.1 mix included? I thought that I read that there was. That is my primary inspiration for picking this up (haven’t bought it yet)

Forgot about the demos. I'm not pooh-poohing reissue packages--rediscovering old favorites can be well worth it.

sfa at the bbc

only a few tracks in but i am so glad this exists. im finding myself more and more interested in having live recorded alternatives to most of my favorite bands, and this stuff sounds brilliant

such a treat to get comprehensive bbc sets from both sfa and rem in the same year
