What's Everyone Listening to?

Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

Unless something knocks my socks off between now and the end of the year, it's a battle between this and the Big Thief record for album of the year.
Neither are better than the DBT record. Not even close
I love the DBT record, and it's right there with those albums, but both the Big Thief and Lee Bains records are big, sprawling works that are enormous in their scope and I find that impressive. There's no bigger fan of Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You than Patterson Hood, by the way.
I know someone in a FB group I belong to who might be able to give Patterson a run for his money in the Big Thief department.

The latest solo release from Kenny Roby of 6 String Drag. 6 String Drag reunited in 2014, releasing their first new album since the late 90's. They released one more before Kenny relocated to Woodstock, NY. This is the second of his solo releases since the move.

The self-titled debut from Bonny Light Horseman. Another artist I've been hearing a lot about over the past few years. I like all that I've heard from them so far. Their next album is due in October.

Some friends of mine have also been singing the praises of this band for quite some time. They cite Alvvays as an inspiration which is a plus in my book. They're in Durham later this month. I'd love to see them. Not so sure that will be in the cards though.

You've got the Larry Jon Wilson tune on your playlist. I was kind of obsessed with this song a while back. It's called Sapelo. The only version on any streaming service I can find is a full band version that I don't like near as much as this.

Go see the Beths if you can. They were excellent live. All really good musicians & the songs (& band) are charming.

Great stuff. I already had a bunch of that tour on boots but it's good to hear the soundboard versions. I'm more in it for the blu-ray which should be here next week. The hi res download sounds great & was included with the blu-ray purchase.
Worth price of admission for "On the Beach" & a really heavy version of "I've Been Waiting For You".
I streamed it a few times on his Archives site. It's solid. Between Way Down in the Rust Bucket, Earth, Tuscaloosa, Songs for Judy, Roxy: TTN Live, Live at the Cellar Door, A Treasure, Live at The Riverboat, Live at Massey Hall 1971, Live Rust, Weld, Year of the Horse, Dreamin' Man Live '92, Live at Canterbury House 1968, Live at the Fillmore East, Unplugged, Road Rock Vol. 1, Carnegie Hall 1970, Citizen Kane Jr. Blues, Odeon Budokan 1976 and Return to Greendale, my appetite for another live Neil record is not very strong.
The blu-ray is pretty good. Micah Nelson is the man! Ferocious version of Hey Hey My My plays on the credits.

I like everything I've heard by the Beths so far and am looking forward to their new album but the band I'd like to see most at the moment is Alvvays. Unfortunately, their only NC show is clear on the other side of the state from me at the Orange Peel. I could conceivably make that happen but it's doubtful.
