I think it's as good as Weld. Kind of nice to hear the Ragged Glory stuff before the jams got way out there. I like both ways though depending on the mood. Real treasure here is the relatively rare stuff like Surfer Joe, T-Bone, Dangerbird & Bite the Bullet. It was the start of an excellent Neil era. I think overall my favorite album from those times is Sleeps With Angels. It's a dark place but worth it.

Rust Bucket is looser and seems to have more energy than Weld which to my ears is slower and kinda plodding. But Weld has some really great songs that aren't on Rust Bucket, namely Powderfinger and Crime in the City.chuckrh wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 3:36 amI think it's as good as Weld. Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Makes perfect sense when you consider Rust Bucket was a warm up for the Ragged Glory Tour, played in an 800-person capacity nightclub in Santa Cruz, California and Weld was recorded during the actual North American leg of the Ragged Glory Tour which took place in large arenas. Weld is so burned into my soul as the early 90s was when I became a huge Neil Young fan and that live album played a massive role in my Shakey immersion. I've been hoping for a vinyl reissue of Weld for a few years now, but I am more than satisfied that we get Way Down in the Rust Bucket instead (for now).Clams wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 10:11 amRust Bucket is looser and seems to have more energy than Weld which to my ears is slower and kinda plodding. Saw Tim Showalter (Strand of Oaks dude) pimpin' it on Twitter a few days ago. I dig. Are you a fan, Jon?

I'm hoping for a reissue of "Weld" on dvd. I've got the vhs around somewhere but it never came out on dvd officially. David Briggs did the mix on the video & it was different than the cd. At the time I thought it was better.cortez the killer wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 11:51 amMakes perfect sense when you consider Rust Bucket was a warm up for the Ragged Glory Tour, played in an 800-person capacity nightclub in Santa Cruz, California and Weld was recorded during the actual North American leg of the Ragged Glory Tour which took place in large arenas. Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I know you're not a vinyl collector, but I just picked up the 2016 remaster of this album. I heard things I've never heard in 100+ plays.
This is the first album my then 3 year old knew most of the words to, so it' special.
Top 20 all-time for me.
