There's something really perfect about this album cover.

Somehow very fitting to the music. Not sure if I think that because I had already seen the cover long time before I heard the music, or if there is actually a thing called road-music in my mind.Iowan wrote:

New discovery: The Regrettes
Power pop punk garage rock from L.A. And btw they're all teenage girls and the singer songwriter is just 16. Really worth checking out.

Never got around to busting out Lizzy on St. Patty's day, so I have been catching up since. This one is one of their best (what saved it was bringing Brian Robertson back to finish up the tracks they had started without him).

I find myself going back to the Black Angels a lot, looking forward to their new album.

Amazing album, played this to death on my cassette player for a year when it first came out. The sparse production was almost an accident, as the producer was normally the engineer (I think) for Lou Reed. Anyway, Lou gave him a chance to produce for of a day or two, and liked the sound and went with him for the album. I love the sparse, crunchy guitar sound throughout the album.Iowan wrote:
"Romeo Had Juliette" sounds like a mash up between "Marry Me" and "Shattered". Obviously a song released 10+ later by a band Lou Reed was probably barely aware of didn't influence this, but it's just what I hear in my head.

The whole all-star thing can make it feel a little disjointed, but it's damn fine album that rides right in my rock and roll sweet spot.Tequila Cowboy wrote:One of my all time favoritesIowan wrote:
In summation, I don't share your level of love, but I totally get it.

I'm not sure I see any way this record doesn't end up in my top 5 for the year and #1 is not out of the question.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
First listen and I am really liking it. I'm a very casual Replacements fan and not totally familiar with their stuff. I have all the albums but haven't spent enough quality time with them. Looks like I need to.Tequila Cowboy wrote:
