What's Everyone Listening to?

Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

Great album. MMJ have been moving up on the favorite band list. I saw a fantastic show in October.

Shit yeah !!! My dad passed away Christmas Eve. He was not a metal guy at all, but he absolutely loved UFO. Those records got worn out around our house when I was a kid. He and his brothers went to see them in the late 1970's anytime they were within a two or three hour drive.

The Kernal, an artist from my homeland Jackson, Tennessee, released a new album yesterday and I'm digging it in a big, big way. It's called Listen To The Blood. It was recorded in Muscle Shoals and it's kind of a country funk thing. I recommend.

it's the reason dance tracks were put out as 12" singles... better sound quality when you don't cram a ton of grooves into the record.

Sorry to hear about your dad, jr. Btw I was just checking out that Kernal record this morning. Sounded good but I need to give it some more time.

hey Dime, happy to help.

I think i first learned of that when i found out why PiL put out Metal Box on 3 discs instead of 2. Jah Wobble deserves the highest sonic fidelity!

Very sorry about the passing of your dad. Glad the music gave you some good memories.

Love that album. I bought a copy years ago at Charlemagne Records (RIP) in Birmingham. The cover was in great shape, but record had a few skips. Last January while I had COVID, I spent all the money I would have spent on my hotel at Homecoming sniping vinyl auctions from eBay. Got another copy in a lot purchase with a bad cover, but great vinyl.

Thanks for the kind words, folks.

I've tried to get into The Kernal for quite a while but it had never totally clicked for me. I'm all in on this new release though.
He was on Rhett Miller's podcast a few weeks ago and he seems like a very interesting, nice guy too.

That whole record is a monster. Love me some Husker Du. Pink Turns to Blue is a fave on this album.

My favorite Floyd record. It was such a treat to see Roger Waters perform a bunch of it last tour. Not to mention having the Battersea power station rise up out of the arena floor! Absolutely stunning. I wish I could've seen the tour but they didn't hit Seattle that tour. I made up for it by seeing the original Wall in LA where I was attending school. Musically though I still prefer Animals. I'm also big on Wish You Were Here. & Dark Side of course!

Steven Hyden strikes again. Fyi Animals is # 4 on his list.

Hyden's lists are great. I recommend him on twitter.

NP - been on a big Lucinda bender lately. Currently listening to the underrated Blessed.
