Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Indeed, massive, massive fan. Saw him countless times starting in mid 80s, lots of of TRU shows, a very brief run in 1992 where he fronted the Seldom Scene, him & Grisman, and a bunch of Rowan/Rice shows. Probably other stuff I don’t remember.
When listening to that it struck me that I had seen the three of at least 200 times combined

Stephen Stills Live
An Electric side and an Acoustic side. I usually start with the acoustic side..
A live favorite since I first bought it on 8 track in 1975.

Yes, sir. I've been on a big Stills kick lately.
Live and the first Manassas album have really been doing the trick for me.

Really nice to be back around!
Although not the stone cold classic that is the 1st Manassas record I still spin their other one, Down The Road regularly as well. The opening track, Isn’t It About Time alone is worth the price of admission.
In other news, I’m several records in with the Neil Young birthday weekend marathon. So far: Zuma, Life, TFA, & World Record.
Next up: On The Beach

Is Stills the greatest multi-purpose threat ever in rock and roll? He can sing like a bird or get his voice down in the gutter for a blues or straight ahead rocker. Everything he does is like that. He can span several genres with complete authority as a singer, player of many instruments, writer, producer, band leader, band member, etc.4sooner wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 3:05 pmReally nice to be back around!

I'm not saying he's the best at any of those things, but is he better at all of them combined than anyone else ?

Not arguing/disagreeing but just speculating about what the field of candidates might look like. Here are some possibilities INPO, most of whom are lacking in one category or another but all of whom qualify as multi talented and flexible, maybe even chameleon-like:jr29 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 5:55 pm

In this context, the Kooper/Stills half of Supersessions is particularly interesting, not that I know whether it means anything.beantownbubba wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 4:51 amNot arguing/disagreeing but just speculating about what the field of candidates might look like.
