What's Everyone Listening to?

Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

Well if that shit rips, I'm not sure what this one does. Rip to the nth power? Mick! (Taylor, I mean).

From Philly in '72. You were there, right clams?

Hell yes. I was 6 years old and took the broad street subway to the show IIRC.

Just throwing out a high sign, clams. :)

It does remind me, though, of my three best one degree of separation from live rock nirvana stories:

One of my best friends from HS (and still one of them) woke up one morning and decided he wanted to see the Rolling Stones live. He did, in fact, get on the subway to Madison Square Garden, walk up and bought a ticket (different times!) and see one of the Get Yer Ya Yas Out shows. He was 12.

I have one friend from college who saw Jimi Hendrix live. She was at the show to see the headliners, the Monkees. Talk about different times. Still perhaps the strangest bill in the history of the music. I don't remember how old she was, but rough calculation says she was 11 or 12.

Another friend from college who was and is still a musician so of course was way more knowledgeable and hip about music than the rest of his middle school friends. Somehow at the age of about 14 he made the trip from the NYC suburbs to the East Village to the Fillmore East to see Johnny Winter. That was, of course one of the nights that the Allman Brothers opened and recorded Live at Fillmore East.

But I sure saw DBT a hell of a lot more times than any of them.

Let There Be Rock.
