Know of a great band you think we'd like to hear about? Got some music news? Or just want to talk about music in general? Post it here.

Too early to call, only 2 tracks on early release (like them both). Isn’t fully out until Sept. 15

Saw this a little while ago. My music budget has been out of control. How is it? Worth plunking down for?

Van Morrison - Astral Weeks

Another in a long line of great, favorite albums I haven't listened to in too long.

Goddamn! Shaking my head. This album is truly amazing, one of the few that can claim to be truly original and unique. Amazing I say.

Was lucky enough to see him perform the album in it’s entirety at the Hollywood Bowl.

Wow. Lucky you! You motivated me to dig out the cd of that show for listening to later. Looking forward to it. After both these posts I was cruising around the internet and found this:

"Later they might say that other albums were reminiscent of Astral Weeks, but they could never claim that Astral Weeks was like anything else." According to Greil Marcus, Martin Scorsese said that the first fifteen minutes of his 1976 film Taxi Driver was based on Astral Weeks."

I do not off the top of my head remember the first 15 minutes of taxi driver. Anyone?

As I recall, Astral Weeks was the most named album in Marcus's book, Stranded. Rock critics pick their single desert island disc and explain why. I'll have to dig out the book, too.

This one should arrive on vinyl today. Mister Postman, look and see, is there a [record] in your bag for me?

Listened to Zach Bryan while getting ready this morning. Embarrassment of riches today.

Oh dang. I loved "Wilder Days" and "The Night" on her last one. Well, the deluxe edition, in the latter case. The rest of the record didn't do a lot for me, but I'll always give her stuff a listen. Added to the list for the weekend!

I listened and I like it, but I wasn't blown away. I definitely pick up the theme.
My favorite tune is probably the Ozark Mountain Daredevils cover.

I wasn’t blown away on first listen, but I really love it now. I saw them last night and all the new songs they played just snapped. The whole crowd was singing along to Brought Me.

I think both of the covers are fantastic, and the title track, Brought Me, and The Rut are probably my favorites.

"I Love the Sound of Structured Class," the new single from The Paranoid Style on bandcamp. I don't know how to link to it but highly recommend it, and all their stuff FWIW.

I'd seriously think about giving my left nut for a ticket to the 50th anniversary shows of this.
Chuckie!
Micah Nelson is replacing Nils Lofgren for these shows & possibly more. Some guy put up a post telling Neil he was available for rhythm guitar. Neil responded "Micah has that under control". Saw this one coming & it's a good choice by Neil. Micah is an amazing musician. Looks like Nils is tied up with Bruce in 2024.
